Just Purchased '09 G37 Sedan... Good Price?

Hello. I just purchased a certified 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey Sedan with 32,000 miles on it. Also has tech package, premium package, nav. package, wood trim and a few other minor options. I think pretty much everything except the sports package. Car is in immaculate condition, aesthetically and mechanically. Brand new tires and fully maintenanced. I got the car for $27,200 with 3 years oil change and filter package. Car has 7 years / 100,000 miles Infiniti CPO warranty. Few questions I had:

1. Did I get a decent price for the vehicle? KBB shows it's over $29k. I tried to get it down more but could not. I tried looking for this vehicle for over 2 months and this is the best I found for a CPO. I got a very fair price for my trade in and financed through Infiniti for 60 months / 3.79%.

2. What does the 72 months / 100,000 mile warranty cover? Is it like the bumper to bumper warranty or just the powertrain warranty. Finance lady kept pushing and pushing me to get the extended warranty and other packages with no success.

3. Oil change every 3,750 or 5,000 miles? I want to use this car for a long time. Go by the book for maintenance? Obviously, I should put in premium gas?

4. There seems like there are so many features in this car. What are the features you guys use the most? I'm not terribly tech savy.

Thanks for all your answers in advance!

1) If you got excellent credit, check out penfed, 1.49% for up to 5 years on used/refi.

2) This is best asked your sales/finance mgr. If it's infiniti elite care, it should cover almost everything that a bumper-bumper warranty does. Google or search on here for the exact items covered (there's a pdf floating around).

3) I change mine somewhere between 3700-6K, depending on time, driving conditions, etc. What does the owner's manual recommend for fuel

4) On mine I set the doors to unlock with a single push. I find it a hassle to have to double press. As for features, I use the third pedal most of the time. In fact, it was the key selling point.

If it was 7 years / 100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper, it would be better than the new car warranty.

This makes sense. If the original owner bought the car on Oct.2008, this car then has effectively 3 years/68,000 miles warranty, not bad, but certainly not better than a new car warranty. But, heck, it is much cheaper than a new car.

Premium gas is mandatory.

How do you set your doors to unlock with one push on the driver door? Are you referring to your car being stick on your last comment?

^^It's one of the convenience options I think. I don't recall the exact steps. It was nearly a year ago that this was configured. Check your manual for the exact programming steps.

Actually, it's one push of driver or passenger door. As a side effect, if the unlock button is held down on the remote, not only does the driver window come down, but the other 3 as well. I never open my windows from the outside, so this bug is really a nonissue.

There's also a setting in there somewhere to prevent the driver seat from going back when you shut the car off (easy exit something or other comes to mind).

Yes on the stick.

Price sounds a little steep, and I assume you paid sales tax at a dealership. But it sounds like you got a great car - let's see some pictures!

+1 for PenFed - great experience with them.

I think for your car, from what I've seen during some of my research, that the price is on the higher end for the options and miles that your have on your G. Its not a bad price, but for everything you have, add the sports package and maybe 5,000 more miles, I've seen go for the same price.

But you've already bought the car so it doesn't really matter anymore. Just enjoy the car, I know you will.

Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the advise on Penfed. I'll definitely check that out. I don't have elite car but just the standard CPO warranty. The dealership said that Infiniti will mail me out a booklet on the CPO warranty that will explain more. I'm almost sure its a comprehensive warranty for 7 years / 100,000.

The maintenance book says change the oil every 3,750 miles. I think I'll do 5,000.

What do you mean the third pedal? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I think it was a decent deal, not great or horrible. I looked at a lot of used G37's, both CPO and not and some were just in really bad condition so I figured it was worth it to find a really good one. I drove the car about 1,000 miles over the weekend and I love it.

I would rather over pay for one in great condition than get one cheap that was in bad condition. I bought mine in June and I've already put about 6,000 miles on it, maybe a little more. I love it!

Any mods planed?

Post some pics when you get a chance too!
