Shiro Nakamura did an interview with Edmunds Inside Line back in June or July.
He implied that the entire Infiniti line up is going on a diet. He even went as far as saying the current G is "a bit fat." No numbers were given, but the Q50 may end up weighing a bit less than the current G.

why i asked. I am thinking more use of high strength steel... But will the increased size offset those gains (losses)?

Looking at the one interior shot, you can see redline is still 7,600. I think the VQ37VHR is sticking around for a bit.

I expect it to have direct injection too. I don't think it's unreasonable to think this engine could put out 350hp.

I like the way it looks from the rear and the side, but the front looks horrible to me. Like they are trying way too hard to make the car look aggressive. Maybe it will look better in person, but I just lost my desire for this car.

I noticed and thought the same thing! That said, it is still feasible that a new motor has the same red line. I'm still hoping (dreaming) for a turbo though.

LOL, ash. Lowered expecta-a-a-tions!

To LH1's point, direct injection is way overdue at Infiniti. However, I still think you won't see an engine tech upgrade until the Q50 mid-model refresh.

I guess we'll all know the details tomorrow some time.

I think I'll be keeping my 09 a few more years now, but who knows, it may look better in person.

Oh yes, it's definitely possible.

I'm with you on that ash, if this thing debuts with say a 3.0L twin turbo I won't be complaining.

Just a little over 24 hours to go and we can put all the powertrain speculation to
bed. For once I'm looking forward to a Monday morning.

Except that the Turbo Trend these days also includes lower redline for fuel consumption and noise reduction, offset by the torque gains of the forced induction.

Im excited about Monday too!

Another weight factor is that if the car comes with a turbo 4 engine, that will drop a couple hundred pounds. Just hope they put the same amount of power as the new 328i or the ATS turbo. Maybe around 280hp/280tq from the factory with a decent factory turbo and this car could easily net 50whp/50wtq gains with a tune, intake and exhaust.

If they do keep the 3.7, I sure hope they get at least 350hp out of it since Hyundai has 348 in their V6 which is in the Genesis.

Is anyone here as interested in the hybrid model as I am? The VQ/electric motor combo make the obese M35h pretty damn fast. Imagine it in a couple hundred pound lighter Q50.
