$34K, because it's still 2012.

However, you live in CA, and that probably factors in somehow.

That's asking price. Heck, you shouldn't be paying that much brand new; (before taxes, that is.)

Go appraise it with Edmunds, or KBB. There's a big difference between trade-in value, private sale and retail asking prices.

It's not that complicated, really. Value is what it is... the complications occur during negotiation.

i'd say $34-35k, depending on mileage, condition etc. $35k for top condition is a fair asking price...in the US. It would be $40k+ in Canada.

The above prices would be private party, not tradein values. I paid $38K + ttl last december for a '12 6mt sedan. Assuming they can be found, new can be had for 37-38K + ttl. I think a more realistic value might be 33-34K assuming immaculate condition, private party sale.

The buyer must weigh the marginal cost of buying brand new vs used. With a price difference of 3-4K, in this class of car, going new makes more sense. First year is worst for depreciation

For the seller, yeah it is. For the buyer... it's an awesome find. Picked up my 2011 with only 3,900 miles, and I was very pleased with the negotiated price.

OP, you must be pretty motivated to want to sell what is still essentially a brand new car.

FWIW, new '12 6mt sedans can be had for around $36k+ttl (my recent quote was a tad under)

This depends on availability and your dealer's willingness to share current incentives

@Stownsaint, what current incentives are there?

Pricing various by region too. According to truecar, here in the chicago area, a base 6mt sedan has a dealer price of $37128, while one in southern CA is $35886, a difference of nearly $1250.

True and as a buyer I would want to know when it was first registered to the owner.
I could have lost a year of warranty already, reducing the value some more.
