Can anyone help me out? i am looking to buy an Infiniti G37XS type S, Sedan, 2010 with roughly 60,000 km. The owner said the title is rebuilt but the engine and oil/liquid pans were not damaged and has papers to prove that, which i find helpful when it comes to buying fixed up cars. Anyways, he said his initial sale was 25,000, so I test drove it and i love it so much, there is something about Infiniti's exhaust that i fell in love with. I talked him down to 23,500. Would that be to much to be paying? I need navi and backup sensor because my mom would drive my car too. Does this amount sound too high for this type of car?

My apologies, I drive a tiny civic right now and would love some expert advice on whether I am wasting my money or not.

Im amusing you mean it has a salvaged title?

those cars are a case by case at your own risk kinda thing.

I looked at two and one had been in a front end wreck. I asked the guy if all the air bags and air bag sensors/relays had been replaced. He said as far as he knows yes....yeah not worth it on that car.

Take the car to a shop and tell them you need a good inspection.
Then take it to another shop to be sure.

 

Right now there are lease deals going on for 18 months for the 37s in various choices (Navi, Sport, etc). Check your local dealer for those. Why lease? Well the new G37 is due now, so the previous gen will get depreciated more than current. Plus I wont buy salvage due to the fact of hidden problems. 23 for that car is a bit to high (for me), rather buy something completely brand new (different brand) than that.

You can also buy used within that price range as well. Your best option will be to look around, check Carmax, local dealers, Craiglist, etc and narrow down your search. Dont rush into it either.

I got a 2009 g37x 59K KM for 25K fully loaded with premium, nav, etc. for 25K
with no title issues and very well taken care of.

There may be frame issues with the car.

It's not worth buying considering you're going to have to pretty much beg someone to take it off you with a damaged title.

Unless you're going to be the last owner of the car I'd keep looking.

 

Don't buy a vehicle with salvage papers. Get a year or two older but clean title and save yourself the headaches down the road.

 

Lucky G- I'll add to the chorus of not buying a salvage titled car. Hopefully, you realize that financing of such a vehicle is almost impossible, as banks and finance companies realize their equity (the '09 G37xS) is severely compromised. As others have said, a salvage title means you'll also have trouble reselling the car when it comes time.

Unless you're a mechanical expert and know precisely what was repaired and how, it's difficult to give an accurate bid. From your OP, it doesn't sound like that's the case, so I'd advise you to walk away...and quickly.

 

Yes - $23,500-$25,000 is to much for a salvaged vehicle.
Even in Canada (I assume that is where Lucky_G is) you can find a clean title G37X or S for $25,000. I just checked Autotrader dot ca and there are a few.

InfiniteSmoke - Unfortunately here in Canada, we have 12, 24, 36, 48 mo leases. A 12 & 24mo lease for an XS would cost about $1800 and $1100 per mo plus tax. A big waste of money.

 

Thank you for all the replies, I am really interested in this vehicle because it looks practically new. I have asked this person to come with me to the Infiniti Dealership so the mechanic can see how much this salvage title would cost. Yes, I am definitely looking to drive it until it dies. My civic is at 250,000 km and I am getting quite worried.

 

You can only be the judge of something, but the price is high for Salvaged. What kind of damage did it sustain to be salvaged? Can you get pictures? Sides, front, interior, engine (multiple angles), underneath, more pics the better. Its good your taking it to Infiniti though.

For 20k you can buy many new cars or cars with clean titles. Yes the G is nice, but a salvage title is not worth it.

 

I have to agree with everyone else about not buying a salvaged vehicle. For one you don't know what hidden repairs may be missed in an inspection, and second insurance could be a huge nightmare. I bought a 09 G37xS with 30,000mi (48280.32km) for 29000. I know I over paid for my car but from what I have seen for the same car you can get them for around 25000-28000 depending on the shape, how long its been on the lot, the dealers willingness to work with their customer, and how much they have into the car itself.
