As hard as it might be, I wouldn't get too openly angry with them if they ask you to eat the cost. Just say, very calmly, "I'm sorry, I can't accept that because it's just not fair or right." Hold fast with that... no matter what nonsense they spout, say that the warranty work should return the car to reasonable condition. Mis-matched materials don't equal reasonable condition. Give them an analogy like car paint. If you scratch a door, and it has to be repainted, sometimes the whole side of the car has to be repainted so that the door color matches the rest of the body... that's a common and accepted practice in body work (says the man on the internet whose never worked at a body shop a day in his life!). They may try to make up legal stuff, or state their "policy," but don't buy it... just keep asking to speak to someone higher up because you can't accept that this is right or fair.

When you start to lose options, ask if there is something they can do to make this right, and acceptable to you. Tell them you love your car, and can't look at it in this condition, tell them you want to feel like you can trust Infiniti to do the fair thing... you want to be able to be a future customer... and finally, if you absolutely must, you might consider small claims court. Just the act of filing against them might make them come to their senses and offer a settlement to you that pays for the replacement.

Agreed. The aluminum looks very cheap and cheesy.

The replacement the dealer did is totally unacceptable. They should either find the correct pieces at an auto junk yard, or replace everything with something that matches throughout.

Exactly. If not because of the new beautiful wood trims, I would not have bought the G. It's well worth $600 IMO.

Though I agree with the OP about why should the owner replace the remaining trims knowing that the dealership/service advisor/tech knew that the wood piece would be different, regardless before or after install. It was 'good' of the dealership to replace the defective item, but it's just common sense that the two pieces are completely different and should have notified the customer before proceeding further.

Just in case the dealership doesn't budge on covering the cost through the different tactics mentioned here, I would ask them to heavily discount the cost then. Thats the lease they can do. For example, if the cost is $600 as some have said, you already have four pieces of it, get the cost of remaining and decide what's cheaper, parts or labor. Usually dealerships will work something out.

But again, depends on who you deal with. Good luck!

Any way of making the old trim left behind to split or crack or whatever the issue with the replaced pieces was?

The dealer wouldn't give me my old pieces back said they have to send them to Infiniti... So let me translate.

Can I have my old pieces back? Sry but we threw them away bc we thought you wouldn't notice the horrible color variation...

The original wood trim is REAL. Anyone who says its fake or plastic doesn't know what they are talking about.

The wood trim is a veneer that means its a piece of real wood trim that's been stained and applied with adhesive to a piece of abs plastic. The original wood trim when exposed to heat for a long period of time such as the sun eventually the veneer peels and separates from the abs plastic backing which is what happened to you in your case.

To fix this problem in the long run Infiniti has switched to a different manufacturer that produces simulated wood without adhesive to make it more durable in the long run. This is why the new simulated wood that you got as a replacement doesn't match because they are made completely differently. There is a TSB on this.

Basically there is NOTHING you can do about it except replace all the other pieces so they will match the replaced part.
How does that work if my 2012 G37x has maple interiors?

Analogy:
Sorry, sir. Your front fender is now MW on your IP car because we don't stock IP fenders anymore.

Would you buy a car with mismatched body panel colors? The interior trim is even worse, as you see it the whole time that you are in the car.

I agree with the OP completely. However, being firm and polite will go much further than losing one's temper.

So Infiniti just called back... Basically they gave me a big F U. They won't do anything about it and said they weren't going to change any other pieces in the car because it won't match no matter what they do...

time to escalate it using a tactfully sound, logical argument. keep at it bud, you'll get there eventually. i'm surpirsed they are trying to brush you off on something so obvious, but you just have to play the game this time.

I don't see how/why you guys are so nice and calm. Maybe because I'm from NYC?
But as far as I know, pissed off, angry, but smart is the best way at it.
I argued a $1500 flight rescheduling fee down to $250 at American Airlines because they honestly f*cked up. That discount shouldn't have ever happened and probably wouldn't have if the manager wasn't so scared of getting in trouble with his manager(s) and whatnot.
That's the way I see it. The calmer you are makes you seem more stupid and basically, a pushover.
You coughed up a huge investment, the least they can do is fix their damn problem.
Maybe this is just me, idk.
