Overall I think I would be more comfortable in it though.

Unfortunately, we couldn't come anywhere close to making a deal. They basically said that they have tens of used G37s on the lot and only 2 M35s so they don't really want the G back. I can see their point. They did say the could come closer on the other M35 they had in "Grandpa Gold" color. Uh, no thanks! I really hate car dealerships, and I dreaded going back there, but I felt I had to do it sooner rather than later to see if they would help me out.

A number of you mentioned SUVs. I suppose that is a possibility. I have a family of 5 but we have the odyssey to haul everyone around in. 98% of the time, I am just driving myself back and forth to work so I really hate to haul around the extra SUV sheet metal.

As to a weird mental phase. Yeah maybe. The first few weeks I loved driving the thing around. Not a care at all with the seats or anything. So at this point, I'm not sure I trust myself to trade it in and get something else because I feel like I made such a big mistake on the G.
That's a shame that you couldn't get a reasonable deal. I like going to the car dealer about as much as getting a root canal so I feel your pain

A Hyundai Genesis Sedan (not the cheapy coupe) may be an option, at least the price should be in range and they're a pretty nice ride IMO. Plus they have long warranties so you'd be covered there.

If it's out of your budget, have you considered Leasing one?

I drove a rental M and I really liked it and for me, it felt gigantic.
Guess there's alwas the FX, too. That was roomy but still felt like a cockpit from the drivers seat (1st Generation).

I would vote for the GTR, but how about a Subaru Legacy GT? That car should give you lots of head room, comfortable seats, lots of room in the back, easy to get in and out.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I looked at the Recaro seats. Leather seats like the specialist M LXW that don't scream I need a 5-point harness are going to be over $2600 for a pair. Yikes!

I'm feeling that I'm stuck. Looking at current rates for this make/model/year, I'm fairly sure I way overpaid for this thing. Blackbook wholesale is anywhere from 21,600 to 24,900. So it is probably going to cost me $3000 to $5000 just to get out of it even though I've only had it for a little over a month - if I go through a dealer. Hard to stomach! I'm sure I can do better selling it myself, but that has it's own set of complications.

I only have to drive 20 minutes to and from work each day and there is a lot to love about this car too! Again, for the first couple weeks I was begging to run errands in it. I'm going to try to change my attitude this week and see how it goes. Hopefully no more up-at-3am typing sessions!

Tried some used cars today

Tried latest model used Acura TL, RL, TSX today. They all had about the same amount of room - which was not enough. I was really disappointed with the TL.

I tried an FX35 - not sure what generation. It seemed the seat went back a bit more, but it was way too high - I was hitting the headliner. So no go there.

I did something REALLY crazy yesterday and tried a 2012 Chevy Equinox. It had enough room, but it just isn't my style. My wife told me before I even tried this that we weren't getting a Chevy. They had a 2009 Maxima SV Sport in black on the lot with 41,000 miles on it. I fit in it but didn't get a chance to drive it since I was on my lunch hour. They were willing to do an even trade with the G37x (with 23000 miles now) but I didn't think that was a very good deal so I told them I would pass on it. If the mileage were the same as the G then it would be very interesting. I drive about 6,000 miles a year currently so the difference between the two is about 3 years of the car's life gone!

I think I'm going to go to the Nissan dealership and try a low mileage Maxima there next. On the phone they said "we can give you a better price on the G than anyone else around here". We'll see.

To respond to some others, I don't really like leases. Too expensive in the long run since I stay in my cars a long time. I do love the looks of the new M37 though and it looks like it might be big enough.

I have a TL also, and can assure you there is ALOT more room in that car. It's a great car, and well priced for what you get. check it out.
