@Entcee How do you keep your front lip so pristine? I used Dr. Colorchip on mine from years till I threw in the towel and covered it with a vinyl theme.

It looks OK from a distance. Up close it's really bad. The clear has spider cracks and there are LOTS of little chips. The bumper too, it even has a couple gouges. One of the things on my list is to get the bumper fixed/resprayed, but it'll be a while.

Mine had a hundred little chips as well. Additional chips on the midnight grill, so I came up with a vinyl design that I thought looks tasteful. The vinyl ends up be a lot more durable than the paint. I put PPF on my fascia when the car was new and that has held up well over the years. The lip was added years later, so it got abused.

Delay on the completion of the engine bay redux project, there are only a couple minor details left. Expect pics next week, in the meantime, who doesn't like a good looking rear end?
My lower bumper is also vinyl wrapped in flat black, so this is the first time I've seen what that would look like with a diffuser panel down there. I have to say I like it, which surprises me. My bumper wrap has been on for over a decade, and I was rather hoping it would start to peel off so that I could either have it redone, or painted on permanent. Did you consider paint instead of vinyl?
Peeking deep into your pic, I'm also seeing an aftermarket diff cover, and Bell Raceworks diff brace...

Thanks! It is the TBW one, it's fairly mild as far as diffusers go.
Actually, that is plastidip. It has been on for ~6 years. I would like it to be gloss black so if this ever peels or needs to be redone, I do want to get it painted.

Wait a second. @Entcee , do you think I could fix the wrap line on the sides with Plastidip? This has been weighing on me (disproportionately ) ever since the beginning.

That is one classy sedan!
I see 2 challenges: Having it match the vinyl (easy enough to test), and hiding the transition line. There will always be a line, the question will be how far back do you have to stand to not see it. Might be a similar outcome if you added a strip of vinyl in that section that just barely overlaps the existing vinyl.

Yep, totally agree. The transition line will be there, no changing that. However, a line between two matte black surfaces would (probably) look less awkward than the current sight line. As for blending... if the two matte blacks match well enough, I could either blend into the wrap, or tape the transition. At the end of the day, I'm chasing down a minor problem that I've already lived with for 12 years. Few people notice what's bothering me until I point it out.
I suppose I'll find out soon enough where I'm going with this little project. Worse case, I have things re-wrapped next year. Although this kept falling down low on my list of things-to-do and future mods, there's really nothing on the list anymore.

Thanks, Entcee! There are about a dozen members here still active with cars that would be awesome to meet up with. Yours is on of them.

You might find that dip is less black than the vinyl, but I hear they have a new darker black color that I have not tried.
Thanks! I think you and I have similar taste on a lot of things. I will be around (possibly silently lol) for a while. I decided when it is time to get another car (in 5ish years), I am keeping the G. That decision helps me sleep at night as I put money into these refresh projects.
I know there are photos posted of modified sedans all over the forum. To be completely honest, I never quite liked the look of the G sedan... at first. But it has seriously gown on me over the last few years of being on this forum and seeing some of the work that the sedan guys are doing with their rides. I really respect how great they look when they are modded right. There are several that look almost as hot as the coupes... almost.
But seriously, I want to see only the best of the best modified G37 sedans here in one thread. I'd like to have the best photos of the best cars posted by their owners or admirers. This is NOT any sort of competition whatsoever, just an exhibition and showcase of what the G sedan becomes when modded well.
I also have an ulterior motive. It's very likely that I may be adding a new member to the G community and a new G sedan to my driveway. No, I'm not getting rid of Black Betty (ever!) but my wife is changing jobs and losing a company car so she'll need a decent new car. Guess what she think she wants? I've even gotten her to come around (somewhat) on the idea of modding it moderately, probably some wheels and a few minor cosmetic mods. So show me what ya got so I can sway her in favor of the G sedan! Thanks!
