Decided to Tint My G

My 7 year old is complaining about too much sun light in the car and it makes him feel sick. I'll get the car tinted and see if that helps.

I'm thinking of tinting all 4 windows and rear windshield.

How much am I expected to spend? I understand that there are many types of materials, so I'm not looking for an exact price, I'm more interested to know the price range.

What kind of tints do you have? Do you like it or regret it?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I admit I have no knowledge in this area, please excuse my ignorance.

I got all 4 doors and rear windshield done @ 35% for about $140. You should be around $150 unless you get special ceramic tint like Huper-Optik. Those will run you upwards of $200-$300+

What are the advantages / drawbacks of ceramic tint like Huper-Optik?

For sure I'm going with 35% on the front windows. But I'm debating if I should go for 25% on other windows.

Yeah it should be around $150-200 for lifetime warranty. Dealers usually list this item for $400.

Living in Texas, windows tinting is a must for me. It actually helps a lot and takes less time to cool off. I think mine is 30% all-around. If your son is complaining about the sun, you could go darker on the rear depending on your state laws.

I have 3M with 30% fronts and 25% rears, that ran me $300. It is the best tint I have gotten so far. I have the 30% in my rears on my civic with some other brand, it is much harder to see out of than the 3M at a darker tint percentage.

I love to get it as dark as possible. But the police here give out tickets like there is no tomorrow. They always try to find any excuse to give out tickets and I don't want to attract their attention too much.

I have 25% on all windows and 15% on back. Ceramic all the way around and love it. Ceramic insures that there's no interference with the antennae on the rear windshield.

I think for NY, the front is 35%, no limit for the back. But I don't want to draw too much attention.

I forked over $120 for 35%. Johnson window film with lifetime warranty. Shop around. I wouldn't spend more than $175.

That means there could be interference if the tint is non-ceramic?

only if you get the metallic tint. you can get non metallic that is not ceramic also. Johnson film makes them and they are about $150 for lifetime warranty. I've had those in the previous Audi for 5 yrs and had no issues. Also have them currently on the G, M, and Audi.

I would also get the same shade all around for a cleaner look, unless you don't mind the different shades. Depending on your interior, 35% all around will look good with graphite, but may be too light for wheat or stone interior.

Thanks for the info.

I have graphite interior and graphic shadow exterior. So I guess 35% would look good.
