Argh! I got a crack on my windshield...
If you have glass protection, just get whatever windshield. Then get it replaced again when it breaks. OEM vs Safelite, very little difference.
When you do a chip repair service, that's usually a charge of $75-$125 to your insurance company.

First off, the NISSAN oem windshield is fragile as hell!!! Just as soft as their weakas$ paint!!! Anyway, you should check with your insurance first to see if they have coverage on your windshield. Depending on what state you are located, some states require the insurance companies to offer windshield coverage at no cost for the driver (meaning no deductible). Unfortunately for me, CA is not one of them. But luckily, my policy through AllState offers free repairs on windshield cracks. So I paid $0 and had it repaired through SafeLite. I had a crack about the length of my index finger, but now after the repair, it just looks like a tiny crack. Definitely noticeable if you are looking for it, but it really doesn't bug me too much since it's on the passenger side of the windshield. Plus they guarantee their work to ensure the crack won't spread out further. SafeLite also offers mobile service, so they can also travel to your work or school, etc. Good luck with the repair!
