If you take your car to a car wash, they will put swirls and scratches in it. They will also most likely strip off any wax that you have on there. They use super potent cleaners to get the dirt off of your car without touching it. Those cleaners will tear right through your wax layer. The only thing that MIGHT hold up to the cleaners is Zaino or some Collinite. But you will have to apply it every month instead of ever 4-6 months. I would personally find a GOOD mobile detailer that will do a handwash on your car with the 2 bucket method (it will most likely cost more than the $15 above, more like $30 if they include vacuum, wheels, tire shine, windows, etc...) and then either wax it yourself or ask them to wax it with a quality sealant or wax. With a good coat of wax or sealant, the car will be much easier to maintain and will stay cleaner longer. Regular maintenance goes a long way towards the condition of your car.

It isn't that it is unbelievable, it is just that I don't want to tell the OP that he is going to get it for $15 when he is most likely going to be hearing prices around the $30 mark. It would be a disservice to him. If he can go directly to the guy that you use, great, but I think that he won't be around for that long as at $15 a pop, he is giving away his service. It has to take him about 30-45 minutes for each car, then travel time, that is $15/hour not including the cost of his supplies...bye bye detailer.

If you find someone that hand washes with quality products for $15, then the guy is probably not even covering his costs. Anyone washing properly and not marring your finish for $15 is cutting corners somewhere, period. For that kind of money, you might as well quit and be a WalMart greeter. A good wash in this area costs at least $30-40, unless you're paying some idiot washing with a push broom and a brillo pad.
