Lightbulb Father getting a G37x, price and questions

Hey all,

I think I posted here before, but I can't seem to find my thread, maybe it was somewhere else on the forum.

Anyway, my fathers 05 TL was recently totaled and after test driving a few cars he is pretty sure hes going to go with the G37x. Originally he wanted all the packages but after sitting in the sport seats and talking to the salesman he decided to forgo the sport (and subsequently tech) package due to concern that he would hate the seats. As a 21 year old who will occasionally drive the car I'm kinda bummed but hey, its not my car and if he likes the other seats more, hes going to be in it all the time, not me.

Anyway, right now its looking like we are going to be picking up a G37x Premium + Tech before November is out. I am looking for some suggestions on any must have accessories to get from the dealer/have negotiated into the price. Right now I KNOW we want the shock sensor for the alarm system, the all season mats, and probably the clear bra for the front. Is there anything else that comes highly recommended? Also, is there a place I can see the different wheel/tire combos offered, visually?

The invoice on the Premium/Nav AWD is about 37400, I have heard that these cars are going for within 500 either way of invoice, is this still true? What are the best prices people are consistently getting for these?

Thanks all, I'll keep you posted,

Mike

are you getting a 2010 or 2011? you can get better prices on 2010, but your choices in colors and packages are more limited to what is left.

The dealer we are buying from are out of the 2010's, so he is going with the 2011.

Oh yea, one thing I'd like clarification on, do the headlights turn or not? Also, is it in fact impossible to order it with the tech package and no sport package?

Thanks,

Mike

I would also get the tire and wheel package, for only like 500 bucks you get much nicer looking wheels.

We just bought (picking it up tomorrow) a 2011 G37 S Sedan 6mt. They are already loaded with all options. The dealer cut out all negotiations and sold it at invoice.

it's basically these wheels, except the performance wheel package is 18x7x5 all around, instead of the staggered 18x7.5 front and 18x8.5 rear on the S.

Stock X wheels are 17x7.5 like the base or journey wheels

Definitely get the clear bra. Have it installed before you pick up the car. I would even suggest getting the whole front hood done, rather than just the front of it.

If you want to save a lot of money, get the clear bra done on your (Dads) own. Dealer mark-up is too much and you don't get to pick the best installer in your area (the most important thing about this).
The quality of the install is paramount here. I highly recommend a custom job too, the pre-cut kits have too many visible edges that are always lacking in complete (right to the edge of paint) coverage!
Actually, you might pay more for this type of job, but it eclipses the other type installs. You can get the whole hood wrapped for instance, no visible edges showing on it whatsoever. They should be able to hide all edges around the grill too for instance.
I drove my car 2.5 hours to reach the best installer in my "area", Premier in Fremont CA. I hardly drove the car the first few days before my appointment within one week of purchase and made sure to stay way back on the highway to avoid rocks before the install.

Thanks guys, this is really helpful. Do they have AS tires that can come with the tire and wheel package?

Also, what are some known installers of clear bras, specifically in the Boston area? I know we just had the dealer do the one on the TL and I know what you mean about not going exactly to the edges.

Thanks,

Mike

I got my 2010 G37x sedan Premium/NAV package for $1300 below invoice. I like the look of the 18's, but my concern was the selection of all season tires available at that size. I didn't want to use winter tires so the 17s were my choice. Also the potholes in NJ suck.

The 18s come with a/s tires also, 225/50 if im not mistaken versus 225/55 for the standard 17.
