weird startup yesterday

i went to start the G yesterday and it started to crank, but about a second into it, the engine stopped for about a second, then continued to crank again and started. it sounded a little weird while this was happening. i turned it off and tried again and it started up fine and haven't had it happen since then.

any ideas?

by stopped, do you mean - completely shut off? as in the engine didn't turn at all? paused? hm...

it turned for about a second, then paused for a second, resumed again and started. during this cycle, it sounded wierd, but i'm sure that's due to the abrupt stop and go of the moving parts. in any case, i guess i'm concerned about the pause in the engine turning before actually starting. the best way of describing it is there was about a 1 second pause (completely stopped) in between the startup cycle. it sounds nothing like a dead battery when it hesitates or turns very slowly. the G is 6 months old.
