G Missing Nut

As i was washing my G sedan this morning, I noticed one nut was missing. I wonder what happened to it. Any ideas?

Either it was loose and came off while you were driving

OR

If you have wheel locks, the wheel lock is missing on this particular wheel. Meaning someone is probably trying to steal it and didn't get the chance to completely remove all the lugs. Seeing you are from NY, I won't be surprised if it is the latter.

The lock nut was missing.

Its a stock wheel, I didn't expect people to steal it. And the wheel is in perfect condition other than a missing nut. If someone want to steal it, why just the lock nut? It would take just a few extra seconds to take out the rest. Beats me.

When was the last time you took off the wheels? Probably didn't torque it to spec and it fell off.

Btw, there are TONS of cases of NY people having their stock wheels jacked. Do a search and you'd be surprised.

I never take off the wheels myself. I did an oil change at the dealer a few weeks back (1000 miles ago), but I'm not sure they have taken the wheels off.

I went back to the dealer today they told me they had at least 5 customers with missing lock nut within the pass month. What is going on??

In any case, the dealer installed a new lock nut for free.

Maybe I drove the G too wild and the nut fell off.

Someone taking off the lock nut so the wheels are easier to steal later on?

I bet it's not an evil plot, but an oversight by someone that didn't reinstall it at the dealer. It's probably been that way for awhile, and you just noticed it.

Our stock 18" wheels are so friggin ugly that we'd probably have to tape a $50 to the barrel of each one to get them stolen.
