A traffic jam here and there brings my mpg down to about 13. I also noticed short trip or some engine idle can drastically decrease mpg. On highway, my G could reach 25+ mpg. But there is always traffic here...and my average mpg is just 15.5 with 3,000 miles on the odometer.

I never heard of 33+ mpg on a G, the best as I recall was about 30 mpg. You are the first!

I cannot imagine cities are that different from one another. Montreal has the std stops and lights that all cities have and it's not hilly or anything.

I get 26 MPG on the highway. Is there anything mechanical or electronic that could affect the city fuel economy at all? It has been a real disappointment to me that the car is so bad in that aspect. It's not like i can't afford the fuel but I feel like it's burning more than it should.
I have a little over 3k on the odometer and I do the same as you, 11/26.
I don't think anything is wrong with the car, because if something was wrong, highway mpg would be affected as well. It all depeds on where you drive. If you live in a city where you have to slow down or stop every 300 feet and then accelearte, you can't expect good mpg.

There is another thread about the same subject. I got 10mpg when I bought the car, 12.5 after the first oil change. City commute, light foot. It burns 2x more than my big Benz suv. I still like it thou...
