Windshield Tint

alright, well despite the many negative comments on the thought, i went ahead and did it. to the recommendation of my fellow accomplices (haha), i went with 40% llumar. the results? pretty darn impressive. i was REALLY nervous that it was going to be too dark, but as it turns out, there really isn't much difference between tint and non-tint; 50% was way light. ZERO glare, and with 100 degree weather here in Seattle, the tint couldn't have come at a more perfect time. appearance wise, i'm really thrown off - it's just a windshield tint, but it REALLY, REALLY, REALLY sets the car off; REALLY, REALLY . even during the day, the slight "darkened" appearance it gives to the interior of the car, KILLS. it makes the front end look longer, and gives a swirl on its aggressive edges. you just have to see it to feel meh. anyways, will post pictures when i get the chance this evening.
is it illegal? yes, but so are my 18% tints all around and i've yet to get haggled (G and the previous TL). does it compromise my vision at night AT ALL? from the non-tinted version, obvious a small bit. will i hit someone or something because of it? no...have you seen my headlight and fog hids?
if anyone's considering: llumar gives the best "non-reflective" tint compared to suntek, johnson, etc.. it gives it a more "darkened" look without any glare or reflection.

I had this done (~48%) on my old Super Black Altima SE-R and it was real nice looking with 35% all around. The only complaint I had was at night it does cut down on your headlight output and visibility. Had it on the car for 4+ years and never had any problems with the law, many very dark cars around MD.

First, DAAM that looks REALLY nice no jokes.
Second, don't start crying on the forum about bltch **** cops keep pulling you over in the future. Cause dark car + dark interior + dark tints all around = cop magnet.
your car looks mad hot and here in jersey we getting triple digits and i was considering tinting the front windshield, but dam 40% was way too much for the front, i might go with 50 or something lighter just for purely uv protection not aesthetics.

Getting pulled over should really be the least of your worries. If you get in an at-fault accident, the illegal tint on your windshield can and will be used as grounds to nail your *** to the wall. Not only that, but you've created a record here acknowledging that you know it's illegal, but you did it anyway.
That would be my worry. It does look nice, but a ticket might be the least of your long-term costs with this. Good luck.

eksigned,
In a way through your rationalization you have accurately described the trouble you’ve invited to yourself: It’s too dark (not by much), it’s illegal, and night vision is compromised (a small bit), just to REALLY, REALLY set off the car. You’ve also made a incredible justification for the illegal windshield tint by saying your 18% tints in other areas are also illegal. Now that’s impressive, but try telling it to the cop who pulls you over.
Not to preach, but this is just another example of a judgment position that could eventually prove disastrous for the sole purpose of improving a car’s appearance. For your own good, and perhaps for the innocent victims you may hit, I only hope a cop makes you take it off before you have a night accident.
