Do not set the temperature lower than theoutside air temperature. Otherwise the system may not work properly.
I missed that in the manual, find that sort of odd... in Dallas it's often very humid and muggy, and when it's 75 degrees out I have to set the thing to 70-72 just to get the air moving. I will typically move it up after 5 minutes, though.
As you know, the climate control in the G has a lot to be desired. I am often fiddling with the temp, other auto cars I've had I just set the temp once and go. But yes, I do leave it in Auto mode most all the time.
So would the compressor last less longer if I leave it on all the time? That's what happened in my old toyota. I just left the AC on all the time and eventually I had to have the compressor replaced. Big pain in the butt.
I think they're made much better these days. I wouldn't worry about it. I haven't had a compressor problem since my '86 Chevy Celebrity!
