Dual Climate Control - incorrect temps

Hi All -

Regarding 2010 G37 X sedan -

I am wondering if anyone has experience the following issue with the Dual Climate control.

The outside temps being around 90 and Dew point in upper 70s (very humid). The Dual Climate was set to about 65 for Driver and 75-80 for passenger. The air on the driver side was cool as would expect - but the air on the passenger sidewas about the same as the driver side. Setting the passenger temp to 89 or 90 would kick the heat in on that side finally - but really hot air only then.

Reversing the scenario -setting the Driver to 75 and passenger to 65 - seemed to be correct.

Any thoughts or experiences with this? I only noticed this yesterday since I had a passenger for a bit of a road trip for the first time in this weather... Haven't taken it to the dealer yet....

Thanks!
Mike

Well...you might be asking the system to do too much. Creating 65 degree air on your side and 80 degree air on the other side is a bit on the extreme side. The fan speed BTW is based on YOUR temp, not the passengers.

I also played around with the passenger setting when I first got the car and did not notice any change in temp no matter what it was set to for the passenger. I simply added it to the list of annoyances along with the reversed seek controls and jerky tranny.

Do a search for climate issues. This system runs COOOOLLLDDDD!!!

I sometimes have to turn it up to 78+ just to get room temp air coming out. Probably the same thing with the passenger side settings too.

I'd rather have the system too powerful than too weak though.

Yep, it is all jacked up. When it is 95 outside, in the afternoon, I have my climate control set on 81 and it freezes you out........................

It will definitely cool the car down well, but the auto part is the worst I have had in a car. In all my other vehicles I set the temp. and pretty well forget it. In the G it seems like I am always having to change the temp and fan speed.

^this. The German automakers have it down very well, IME Audi seems to be about as good as it gets. But agreed, the G does have a great A/C, even on the hottest days w/ max humidity the G will still cool down quick.

...and when it's 75 in the morning, I have to drop it to 70-72 to get it blowing at all... My Honda Pilot - I would set it and forget it.

Even Chevy seems to work better than this system - one of my pet peeves as well.

I have a 2009 and also find the auto-temp not that reliable,,,, depending upon the outside temperature I have to dial it up and down. I never had that issue with BMW, so I know it can be done.

Winter is here and even though it's Cal and temperature range is not very dramatic I'm starting to get fed up with AC temp control. You constantly have to fiddle with it - there is absolutely nothing automatic about it.

I'm going to try to permanently block the stupid sunload sensors to force the system to a consistent state.

Just think of it as "semi-automatic" temperature control.... Seems to work more consistantly in cold weather. In hot weather I was constantly readjusting the temperature.

I don't know, fellas. I keep the thermo at 68 in the winter and 74 in the summer and never change...But I do change the fan and direction as needed.
