Getting my G tomorrow
I don't think you get as much benefit from a chip in the G as you did in your RSX. You really have to combine that with other mods and even then, the VQ doesn't add hp easily (or cheaply). You're probably better off going with appearance mods considering that the car is already pretty powerful stock...
I just pick up my G37 last week and detailed it with Meguiars M205 and two coats of NXT 2.0 wax. I've also added the Stillen Gen 2 Intake.

Well... I picked her up on Saturday and had two days behind the wheel so far. I love the car. I have been babying it a bit and haven't full throttled it yet (well maybe once or twice) and cant wait until I hit the 1200 mile
I love the technology in the car. As I was driving home from the dealer the nav started talking to me. It told me that there was a tornado watch until 8pm and that a thunderstorm was approaching. I then said "weather map" and a great detailed map of the storm appeared on my nav screen. Way cool! I havent played with the nav yet but it seems pretty good. The only thing I dont like is that it only displays 5 places when you do a search while driving. I had some problems hooking up my ipod at first (older gen ipod) and had to use my newer ipod which paired perfectly. I have had NO problems so far with the ipod-car interface. I love how you can navigate through all the ipod menus. My samsung moment cell phone paired instantly with the bluetooth and downloaded my entire phone book (I was surprised b.c I read on this forum that the bluetooth has trouble pushing all the contacts on some phones). I think I am going to treat myself to a set of drilled pedals. I bought a set of mugen for my acura in the past ...not sure what you guys would recommend for the Infiniti. Well... love the car... and cant wait to drive it tomorrow to work.

I'm picking my G up Wed. after trading in my '05 G sedan. I am having splash guards and lighted kick panels installed which is why I have to wait a few days.
I was told that in 2010 the Nav is operated by HD, not DVD's like my '05. No more DVD upgrades. I was also told you can put in a music CD and record it to the HD. I think it's 9GB, so that is plenty of mp3's. That is way nice!
The salesman then told me the CD player will also play DVD movies, and that you could also use a jump drive in the USB port to view photos or movies on the Nav screen. Has anyone on here actually done that? I think you have to be in park to view the movie, but what about viewing the photos? Way cool stuff here. Can't wait to get this bad boy!!

Congrats on the new G and welcome to the site. You can rev it pretty good from the start, just not for a prolonged time. The main thing when breaking in the VQ is to keep your cruise control off and keep your rpm's
changing. Keeping it locked at 3k is much worse than an occasional spurt to 6.5k. I'd also recommend changin your oil at 1k, then at 5k then every 5k after that (w/ synthetic or ester of course).

I had a B6 S4 w/ 6-speed manual and it is truly hard to beat the Quattro for snow or even rain driving for that matter. The G37x will not be quite as sure-footed in the snow as your old Audi was.
My G is a RWD, but I also have a 2003 X5 which is BMW's take on AWD and probably similar to the G37 in that it is a RWD biased platform that adds power to the front wheels through electronic sensors as the rears start to lose traction. I think in the case of BMW the normal default is 70-80% of the power to the rear wheels and then it transfers power to the fronts as needed. It works adequately in the snow. But it does not work as well as Quattro, which is a Torsen mechanical diff splitting the power 50/50 or 40/60 depending on the year. I think your B7 was 40/60 but my B6 was 50/50, which is ideal for snow. Similar system is used by Subaru which is much better in the snow than the Haldex system used in the Evo (I owned one of those too), Volvo, MBZ and many other mfg's.
That said, snow traction has got to be 75% tires. Unless I have an SUV on AT type tires, I always buy dedicated snow tires for my snow car. All season tires pretty much suck in the snow no matter what. Well - I guess it depends on the conditions, but when it gets really slick especially with a layer of ice underneath regular all season tires pretty much are worthless. I would take a RWD car on good snow tires over an AWD car on all-seasons any day. AWD doesn't help you stop or steer!!
