Getting my G tomorrow
Getting my G tomorrow
Hi guys. Just want to introduce myself as I am brand spanking new to this forum. I want to first off say thanks to everyone on this site for all the valuable information posted on this forum. It helped me in deciding what car to go with. I previously owned a 2008 Audi A4 Quattro (s line) and before that an Acura RSX type S. I was real happy with my Audi especially its great handling in the snow. However, I starting getting this itch (not that kind of itch) for more. When driving the Audi I craved for more power and acceleration and better technology in the cabin. Well, about 3 weeks ago I test drove a 2010 G37x sedan with prem and nav. Wow.. loved the V6, loved the handling (and I pushed it pretty hard on the test drive), and really loved the cool gadgets. I think the Audi looks as nice as the G but there is no comparison when it comes to brute power. So, I started the negtioation process and bought the G this week for a great price (about $1600 under invoice). I went with the 60 month low APR financing. I take possession of her tomorrow and boy I cant wait. I think the hardest thing will be no pushing her too hard for the first 1200 miles.
So, I have a few questions for you experts:
1. Generally, how will the G37x handle in snow? Will I notice any difference between the G and A4 Quat.?
2. I read some posts that the nav has lost a lot of its voice commands. Can you enter a street name by spelling or saying the name or do you have to type it out?
3. Does the ipod integrate pretty well with the car (is it slow?)?
4. finally, I have a samsung moment cell running Android 1.5 soon to be 2.1. Anyone have this combo and if so can you push the contacts to the system?
Thanks guys for any input and I am proud to be a G owner now. My father-in-law has a BMW 3 series...so I am sure we will argue a lot about the merits of our respective cars.

Hi
my sales at the dealer did it for me, but when you pair up the bluetooth, it asked if you want to upload the address book.

3. The ipod cable from Infiniti is not that great. The only good part is you can use the steering wheel buttons to change songs. But the sound quality is so-so. I switched to using the RCA wires, much better sound quality.

1) I live in Colorado and can comment on handling in the snow. It's quite different from the Audi AWD system you're coming from. The Infiniti ATTESA-ETS drive system remains in RWD mode until the car senses slip. Then it shifts up to 50% of the power forward to the front wheels. This means the G37X will feel like a RWD car initially, particularly when accelerating from a standstill in rapid fashion. You'll even find yourself countersteering for a second, but the G always "catches" itself.
Your Audi always had a 'locked-in' kind of feel, because it remained in AWD ALL the time. But your new Infiniti will be much more of a driver's car, with some of the thrills that power oversteer can produce! It's very rewarding to drive, but does have a different feel on slippery surfaces.

Im in Colorado as well and have loved the G in the snow so far came from a AWD evo which did extremely well too.
I have had no issues with the I Pod interface or sound but then again I have never had one before or a very nice stereo ha ha.
I have a htc eris running android as well and have not been able to get the phonebook to upload etc have been entering it by hand or from outgoing incoming calls.

The 2010 improved some stuff from the 08-09. THere are more voice commands than there were now, the nav screen is much higher resolution, and there is a USB port now rather than the iPod cable which works and sounds better....
Good to hear. I am picking her up in 4 hours. I cant wait. I guess I will enter all my contacts manually (no biggie). To tell you the truth... I dont think I am going to miss my audi too much. I used to be a big Acura fan until they changed the body style and then switched to German engineering. I never thought I'd go back to Jap. This will be a nice change. Not sure if this is the right place to post this question... but does anyone have any experience with installing a performance chip? I dont plan on modding my infiniti too much but I put a chip in my old acura rsx-s and loved the difference. Is it worth doing in this case? Thanks again for all the great info and I will update you after I have a chance to drive the new ride later today.
I don't think you get as much benefit from a chip in the G as you did in your RSX. You really have to combine that with other mods and even then, the VQ doesn't add hp easily (or cheaply). You're probably better off going with appearance mods considering that the car is already pretty powerful stock...
When you pick it up, if the car is still covered in that white plastic, tell them to just take it off and NOT WASH it. They washed mine in an automated car wash. Got the car with 8 miles and lots of swirls.

bastards...-_- oh well! congrats!
