Why didn't you buy the coupe?
I am going to agree with both of you on this one. Sadly when I glance at the new G coupe I sometimes get the image of a Hyundai Genesis Coupe....
I've been a fan of sedans since I got my first one (an old Ford Tempo at that!). Since then, my first new car was a Nissan Sentra sedan (which I still have), and now the G sedan. I like the exterior styling of the coupe, but when I went to the dealership and actually got in one, I was turned off. The interior felt crowded, I felt sunk into the car (in a bad way) and putting anything in the back seat, like a gym bag seemed awkward. Passengers in the back seemed out. I'm only 5'8" and when I sat in the back seat properly my head was already barely touching the back glass. For $40k+, I don't want to feel cramped.
Now mind you I'm single, no kids, and mostly drive alone or occasionally 1 passenger. But I do like space. The interior killed it for me. The coupe might look a little sportier sitting in the driveway, but it's not a lawn ornament. For something I intend to use I opted for the sedan, added some sporty options, and I feel happy with my decision.

The G8 had all the muscle i needed and one of the sexiest looking modern cars to date, but Pontiac going under scared me.
I test drove the G sedan and almost instantly fell in love. It had power, it had tech, it had styling, and the customer service was head and shoulders above everyone else. I was able to get the carseat in the back, the stroller and other goodies in the trunk, and a quiet enough ride to bring the baby and wife while still having the power i crave. No offense to G coupe owners but if I could still effectively drive a coupe now, the G coupe would not be in the runnings. I would be right back in a mustang, particularly the new 5.0.

But I bought the sedan because it is (according to all the rags) faster than the coupe, and has four doors. And all the poseur douchebags in my neck of the woods drive G37 coupes (no offense to the upstanding coupe owners on this board). I am in the process of finally getting some mods on my car, and hopefully getting a little more torque in process. Goal is 30 more lb/ft. Good luck to me.
I bought the sedan for many reasons over the coupe. It's lighter, faster, cheaper, looks better (IMO), cost less to insure, has more room, and is more of a "sleeper". Plus, the Sedan does not look eerily similar to an altima coupe like the G coupe does
.
By the way, here is another thread on the exact same matter that I started about a year ago. There are some good replys in there.

Oh hell ignore your friends, granted the sedan does look like a coupe with down syndrome but hey it's your sedan and like only a mother could love, I'm sure they're are other sedan owners out there the love their sedan too, hang around them and thier families (LOL).
Us single guys however know that compromise is necessary for most things in life...car's just aren't one of them. I'd either have a coupe or a SUV if I wanted space, the middle is for Mommies and Daddies.

I did not get the coupe cause I already had a sedan and got the convertible! it's a two fer. 4 doors + luggage when needed, open top and space only for 2 the rest of the time.
Perfect combo in a family IMHO is an SUV, a hard top vert (doubles as a coupe) and a sedan. One for every occasion.

Not to get off topic but I get the feeling Coupe guys who hate the vert don't realize it's not a coupe and will never have the same lines. It is what it is for what it is.
My wife drives an 05 Grand Cherokee so I don't really need the extra space the sedan provides over the coupe either. But I still bought the sedan because I like the styling better and the extra room is a plus.
This just comes down to personal taste. Just buy what ever works best for you and stop listening to opinions.
You know what they say about opinions???
They're like a*s-h*les, every one's got one.
