What does your DTE say when you fill a full tank?

so i guess it's just some internal memory that's determining the estimate.

I think some people fail to take into account how much they let their car idle. I know I for one almost never have my car sitting and running.

I agree ... it is only a rough indicator. The dummy light by itself would have been perfectly fine for me.
