Can the heat be turned on in recycling mode?

Greetings:

I set the temperature to above 78°, the vent mode blowing into face only, face & feet, when I hit the recycle button the AC kicks in. I can't manage to get the heat to work in recycling mode. Is this normal? This is not good during winter time, since I have cold hand in the morning and need the heat to blow directly to my hand. Is there a work around if any?

Thanks.

The heat IS working...even with the AC on. AC doesn't only mean cold air...it means DRY air. Something you want whit the recycle on. No fresh air equals air that will get moist and fog up the windows.

If its cold out (which its not yet) and you set it to 78 and hit the recycle, you'll get hot dry air. Hitting "auto" will engage the compressor as well.

Thank you much for your explanation.

I am not sure if my heater is working. It's 55° outside in the morning. I crank the temperature setting up to 78° just to perceive a slight warm air. But it isn't hot enough to warm my hand up.

I am really out of luck to purchase this car. First they replace the condenser, then compressor because the AC doesn't work. Now the heat doesn't seem to work either.

Well, it takes time for it to warm up... It's not instant...

Put it up to 90. You'll feel hot air in a minute or two.

I drive the car for 20 minutes and the air is still not hot. If I crank it up to max I feel the hot air. If I compare with other car that I own(Legacy GT, 4Runner, Camry etc), I start feel warm air from the vent at 72° and start getting really hot at 80°. But rarely I ever need to set the T° above 75 in other car during winter.

If you push and hold the recirculation/fresh air button for about 3 seconds, it'll turn off the auto mode for that feature; then you can fog up your wind shield whenever you like!

I can't wear glove to drive. It's too bulky and I don't feel the steering wheel.

You are really obsessed with heat. Do you park in a garage or outside? 55 is not cold, I would not expect the heat to come on. As suggested, put it on 90 if you really need hot air.
