Hey guys!

I just got my G37xS today, and I am having a hard time even after readin the manual. After you put a new location in the address book, if you do not name the location at that time, is it possible to go back later and edit the name. The edit option seems to only appear right after saving the destination, but not later on. Maybe I am missing something....any help would be great.

Second, is there a voice command just to place a call straight from the phonebook? I added some voice tags in for certain numbers. Is the fastest way to call someone from your phonebook by saying, "phone", "phonebook" then the persons name or number? From the main screen you cannot say "call eric"?

I am slowly getting through most of the manual, but some things I just can seem to figure out. Sorry I am not very tech savy.

 

Locations can be edited later. I only call 1 or 2 numbers regularly from the car so I don't know the answer to your voice dial query, I use the steering wheel phone controls to access and redial the last number I dialed or the last incoming call.

 

Regarding the phonebook, that's correct. You have to say "Phonebook > Voice Tag > Dial".

 

I’m sure you can edit a name in your phone book, although I’ve never tired it. But I have changed phonebook numbers a few times.

Regarding voice tags, once you set them up, all you have to do is press the steering wheel talk button, wait for the voice to ask, and then say “Phonebook (your particular voice tag) and the number will be dialed. You don’t have to say the word “dial”, at least not in my early G37.

 

I hate how when you go into the call log, it doesn't tell you the phone numbers of the people you spoke to. The only way to know what the calls are is if the person is in your contacts. Sucks!

 

Mine gives the numbers. But you have to be stopped, it won't do it with the vehicle in motion.

 

Sorry, I guess I did not explain myself well. I was asking if it was possible to edit the "name" of the desitination after you have set it in the past.

Example: If you locate the address 379 Manchester Court, GA 30312.

When you go look at the addressbook later, it just says 379 Manchester Court, GA 30312.

Is it possible to change the name of that location to Lindsay's House or something to that extent?

It would be hard to remember what address coresponds to which place after you add 20+ addresses....

 

OK, I just figured out how to do it. Here are the steps on the nav screen:

Settings, Navigation, Address Book, Stored Locations(Then select the one you want to edit)
Press Edit, Name (The name field will be will be blank, but touch the field anyway), Then press Enter (on the rotary)
You will now get a keyboard where you can enter via touch screen the new name. Note there are both upper and lower case selections available.
Click OK on the keyboard screen (lower right) when done, then press the Back button and press OK once more.
Your stored location will now have the new name.
