Anybody's feet get hot/warm when driving with a/c on?

I swear I've had a few occurrances where I was driving with the a/c on and then out of no where it kind of started to get hot near the gas/brake pedals as though the heater was on down there. Anyone else experience the same thing?

It may just be that it occurs when I drive with slippers/flip flops.

Just curious to find out if anyone else experiences this and if it is normal.

Ok so this is my update. The car gets hot near the gas pedal. I can feel it on my right foot constantly after driving at high speeds for a while.

It's so damn annoying. It gets really hot down there, to the point that there seems to be some type of flaw or defect. I notice that myself and maybe a handful of others have noticed it but nobody else seems to notice it. I'm wondering if I'm super sensitive towards the heat or if my car is just bunk, period. Or there must be some flaw that only affects certain models? Maybe the sedan is affected more than the coupe?

In any case, I can keep the a/c on circulation and have it on its highest setting and it will still be hot down there near the gas pedal.

The heat seems to be coming from the portion right under the center console next to the gas pedal. I can put my hand on that portion and it feels warm to the touch. If I touch other areas down there, nothing, it's cold.

I remember the last time I had the AC on the Auto mode, it only directed the fan to blow the cool air out the top vents and not the bottom vents. Not sure if the car is able to determine which vents to use and choose accordingly.

Just an update, I think the area gets warmer when I use the auto a/c feature. It would make sense, since it has to compensate for the temp when it's either too low or too high. But it gets annoying feeling hot air down below. I guess you could just always set it to blow both up top and below. I normally opt to just have it blow through the main vents.

I'm with you..

I also feel hot air down near my feet when wearing flip flops and shorts. I'll have all the windows down and the car is pretty cool overall except down at the feet. Not sure if this is normal.

maybe its heat coming thru the firewall from the engine compartment? The exhaust manifold has to be close to that area no?

I'm going to guess that that may very well be the case. It's just an unfortunate thing I guess.

Well, if you have the AC off, you should set it to recirculate. That will prevent "fresh" hot air coming into the cabin around your feet.

When you first put the AC on but the car is still hot, try blowing the vents out in both directions (top and bottom), then you can switch it to high only if you want. This will blow all the stale hot air out of the lower vents and should make things cooler.

Happened to me today. Since I noticed this question last night, I checked my controls. It only happens when you have the A/C on and either the Auto or your mode is set for the top vents. Your car also has to have the outside air coming into the car. My feet and legs got really hot. It seemed like there was a torch blowing on my legs. All I did was change the air setting to recirculation and then everything was fine. In a few moments I began to feel the air temp lower in that area and soon everything was perfect. I think it has to do with the outside air that is being drawn from the engine area.

I'm bumping this back up cuz it's hella annoying. So nobody else is experiencing this? I'm guessing it may be a defect with certain cars?

This is a relief. I just bought my car last Friday, and yesterday night I went for a drive and I felt the same thing lot of heat coming from the bottom on my feet (i was wearing flip flops) I'll try the suggestion from above on turning on the recirculating air to see if it makes a difference this evening.

I get that if I set the AC to a temperature higher than outside air, like when the car has been setting in the sun and is way hotter inside.

I just notice this thread, but I know exactly what you're talking about. i was hoping it was a TSB and someone got it fixed but i guess not. my footwell is the same way, just recently though, maybe it's summer, and the car traps a lot of heat, so i drive it just breaths pass my feet? cos it's also when i drive with the windows down after having the A/C on.
