Need some help with a decision on a car

Hey all, new to the forums but was interested if anyone can give me their honest opinions on this.

I'm currently trying to decide between the 2009 Acura TL sh-awd and the Infiniti G37x (premium + hi tech) maybe Sport as well. So totals are $51,329 (for g37x w/ premium + hi tech) and $53079 (sport w/ premium + hi tech, canadian prices). Where as the TL comes to $52,815 after taxes.

Those are the base msrp's how much do you guys think I could probabbly get the g37x for?

Which has the better sound systems? and for the backup camera in the G37x does it have guidelines that show up to see how close you are to the car behind you or some sort of sensor that beeps if your getting to close?

Also which custom addon's do you recommend to get on the g37 sedan, because the base look, to me feels like an older car?
looking at this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INFIN...0654QQtcZphoto

I really like the kit thats put on that infiniti, with the black grille looks a lot more aggresive. Is that kit the factory default one or from somewhere else? Also if anyone has any pictures of what it looks like with the kit installed please link them.

Also I keep hearing about the issues with the 7 speed auto, has it been fixed yet?

Thanks in advance

the first question you have to ask yourself is this - do i wanna be seen around town in this?

Gs are going for invoice and lower.

Black grille and front lip can be ordered from factory. Riverside Infiniti guys are good as well.

7 AT issues have been sorted out.

I agree the outside styling of the TL takes some time to get use to. I give that point to infiniti all the way.

For the interior though I think the TL wins

and with the front lip/black grille, whats a good price for those (Canadian prices, if possible) I will probably go test drive the Infiniti tomorrow, to get a better feel and hopefully get some more insight. Only thing that sucks is the infiniti dealership is in downtown and ill have to go there during rush hour which will equal to a super slow drive

I considered looking at the TL (still shopping but zeroing in on the G37x) but quickly dismissed it mainly because the G's drivetrain seems to be better (more ponys and 7 speed AT vs. 5 speed). While the G is more conservative on the outside it's design is sleek. You can definitely upgrade the appearance if you desire.

The rear camera on the G37 comes with the Nav system here in the US. I'm not sure what the Hi-Tech package is in Canada - here the Technology package adds the intelligent cruise control, adaptive headlights and some other bells and whistles. But the back up camera does have guides on the screen that show you where you're heading (curves as you turn the wheel) and the straight back lines with colored markings as you get closer. There's no audible alert nor backup proximity sensors though. You can download the user manuals on the Infiniti website (Owners section).

okay nice, I test drove the TL the other day and its a nice and quiet drive, after tomorrow I'll have a better feel for the infiniti. I'd like to see some pics of what the kit looks like on the g37. Price wise if the g37 can be had for invoice, it will be a great deal maybe I can get them to throw in the grill/kit for invoice as well, but again that all depends on the test drive tomorrow.

Also how is the resale on the g37x compared to the TL's I know its a new design and all, but on the older models how have the resales been?

Here's a comparison test between the TL and G37 by Edmunds:

The conclusion is clear.

I will be test driving the Infiniti this weekend so just wanted to get as much info before hand.

And my question is " Is that the front of the back of the car we are looking at?"

both are very different vehicles...really depends what ur looking for...i've driven both...and honestly, it all comes down to money at the end...the acura will cost u less to maintain....the infiniti is much more expensive (parts and labour)....if ur into modifying cars, acura is the way to go since there's a huge line for aftermarket parts for any honda/acura...

as for baller status, the G is definitely much baller than the TL (and looks a lot better)....but i'd have to say TL handles a lot better than the Gx....and much better on gas....

if i were u, i'd go to the dealership a few times to test drive both vehicles over and over again until u find the one that u like....don't let anyone else tell u otherwise, at the end of the day, ur the one who's stuck with the car...

personally, i'd probably choose TL over G...acura really stepped up their game when it came to interior quality...

That edmunds comparo says it all. My dad has a 2008TL and I used to have a 2004. I am sure the SH-AWD is waay cooler than the regular (older) one, but its still a FWD based car and will never feel like a G. Plus the TL acceleration numbers are just weak.

I'm coming from 10 years of Acura ownership, just traded my '04 TL Aspec 5AT for my G37xS....

Also, I have driving the '09 TL Tech package (3.5L, FWD) extensively as they had my vehicle in for service for a week --

Case close when i say this: the TL sound system is better than the G's sound system. Granted that's my humble opinion, but there is no discussion on that for me, it just rocks.

The interior of the TL is TOOOO busy with buttons and robotic like chiseled ledges and valleys.... very strange... very "tech" and not as luxury to me as the G37. But, if tech is important to you, you MUST buy the new TL -- the hi-res screen, the VERY intuitive (much more usable than the G's) center dial/controller is at your finger tips as you drive and you don't have to reach for it like you kinda do in the G. I like how the nav in the TL is liquid smooth (not jerky like most nav systems). The audio system states the names of all music (albeit sometimes it bastardizes names, but whatever, it's cool). The tech is just hands down better in the TL.

Also, the 3.5L in the TL (obviously you're lookin' at the 3.7L AWD) doesn't hold a candle to the G37xS and if you look at the carrag number, the G runs CIRCLES around the 3.7L TL as well:

G37xS: 13.8-14.1 seconds 1/4-mile (5.4 sec 0-60)
TL AWD: 14.6-15.1 seconds 1/4-mile (6.2+ 0-60)

Drive 'em and it'll be EASY to see how aggressive the G37xS is compared to the boring to drive TL. I totally hated the way the TL looked and was very sad to end my ownership with Acura... i really am a big fan of the brand.

Buy the G37xS.
