Yeah, I'm running into this same issue. High pitched whine when I press the accelerator, though I've been reticent to put my ear right up to it while driving. Came here to see if it was a grounding issue with the stereo, and I was a little disappointed to hear that it might be the ECM. I'll get in touch with service and see what can be done.

Hmm, mine only does it when the radio is set to the AUX source?

Greetings all,

I've been dealing with this exact problem in my 2009 G37x Coupe ever since I noticed it a month after purchasing it used at around 38k miles. I finally found this thread and read through all of it, and scheduled an appointment for the end of this week to get it checked out. I've written everything down that I need to tell them and will point them to this forum as well as to the Infiniti Tech Line if needed.

I will update once I (hopefully) get the replacement part installed. Thank you to all who have been vigilant in tracking this problem down like a fierce lion hunting its prey.

I just bought the car about a month ago. It's 2009 G37 sedan with Premium package, Nav, premium wheels, 29000 miles on it. I bought this car because of its horse power and good gas mileage. But if i red about this annoying high pitch frequency sound in the forum I wouldn't of buying it. I also did a grounding kit, may be i should of taking it off see if it makes any difference. I noticed the high pitch sound when driving on the freeway, and with the car park in the garage, engine shutdown, radio off, just turn the car to acc. and I still can hear the noise in the small speakers. Sorry, I am 3 years late in this conversation, but did any one have a solution from Infiniti?

Just picked up a 2009 sedan 2 weeks ago and have noticed the high-pitched noise everyone is talking about. Took it to the dealershp today non of the 3 service guys could hear the noise. I'm dropping the car with them on Wednesday to see if any of their other techs will hear it so, I can get it fixed. Has anybody else had this fixed by a dealer? I saw earlier that there was an ECM change that fixed it; any further updates? Thanks guys.

Thanks for the input. My G is at the dealer as we speak. Hopefully, a young pair of ears on the service staff will hear it. For now I'm in a loaner G25 and missing my 37 sooooo much!

I just purchased an off-lease 2009 G37x about 1 month ago (< 20k miles and < 2 years old). I started hearing this noise immediately - after long drives I quickly realized that it was making me nauseous.

I brought the car back to the original dealership that I purchased it from to have the issue addressed. Both times, the technicians could not hear the noise so I opened a case with Infiniti Consumer Affairs. They advised that I get a second opinion from another dealership.

I went to another dealership and thank god they acknowledged the issue. The technician was able to hear the noise immediately. Unfortunately, they were unable to diagnose it so they returned the car to me. I've tried pointing all the technicians and consumer affairs to the forums and telling them that I'm 99% sure it is the ECM. However, they refuse to replace the ECM without definitive proof. From a business standpoint, I understand that dealerships are individually owned franchises and if they can not prove that the replacement part is defective, then they do not get reimbursed by Infiniti Corporate. However, I as a consumer find this defect (whether it is a design flaw or a manufacturing defect) to be unacceptable. I purchased a late-model car so that I won't run into these issues. This is ridiculous.

At this point, I feel like I'm out of options. I'm wondering if the New York State Lemon Law applies here. I've been driving loaner cars for 11 out of the past 30-days that I owned the car. This is so frustrating.

Does anyone have a case# that I can ask Consumer Affairs or any local dealership to refer to. My objective right now is to just get this resolved once and for all so that I can enjoy the car that I just purchased. If they can not address the issue, then I may have no choice but to take legal action.. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

By the way, I downloaded FrequenSee (Frequency Analyzer Tool for Android phones) and was able to isolate the noise at 10Khz as everyone else on this forum has noted. So I can easily prove that the noise is present - whether or not a technician can hear it - it is definitely there..

On another note, I also had an issue with the BCM (intermittent wipers did not work) and the dealership replaced the BCM w/o issue. Also my passenger clearance light did not work so they replaced the bulb. Coming from a Computer/Electrical engineering background, this leaves me to believe that this car has serious electrical issues. I'm actually wondering if I should just install a grounding kit to see if that can solve all my problems (slow transmission shifts and high frequency noise). The car might have problems converting analog signals into digital signals due to the low or slow voltage differences.

Anyway, if anyone has any case # or a contact in Infiniti that I can refer to that would be EXTREMELY helpful.

Will keep you guys posted on my progress..

Your story is the EXACT same as mine, so much so it was a little frightening to read. I purchased a 2009 G37x that was a lease return from the first owner. Instantly started hearing the high pitch noise, and it did make me nauseous as well when driving more than about 30 min.

I purchased my car out of state, so bringing it back to that dealership was not an option. However, I do have 2 dealerships near me here in my state, Minnesota. I brought it to the first dealership, and the service consultant was not able to hear it. He asked me if I wanted to schedule an appointment, but I declined this, because I knew they would not find it.

At this point, I too called Infiniti Consumer affairs and opened a case. They simply advised me to try the second dealership in the area to see if they could hear it. I did go there, and they DID hear it. Here is what I had to do to get it fixed:

Before I brought it in, I called and spoke with a service consultant and explained how it would take a young pair of ears, like mine (I am 23) to hear it. Then when I brought it in, the service consultant brought out a 24 yr old tech who drove with me around the block to listen to it, and he DID hear it. Since you already got the dealership to hear it, this part may be irrelevant to you. The key is to get a tech to hear it, then the service consultant will schedule a complementary inspection, under warranty. (Keep in mind the problem IS in fact the ECM, and we are trying to show this to the dealership).

When I dropped the car off for my appointment, I told them I had printed out a detailed description of the problem (which was actually alot of quotes taken from these forums). It included everything from "Sounds like it is coming from near the glove box" to "I had me ECM replaced and now the noise is gone." The trick was, I told them that while they obviously cannot use the forums as evidence (I also had used FrequenSee to identify the noise at 10k hrz!) It was a very accurate description of the problem the I was hearing IN MY CAR. I told them that I believed it was the ECM, and I wanted the ECM checked during the inspection. That is what did the trick, just asking for it. I also told them that if they needed to, they should call the Infiniti tech line to see if anyone else has reported this issue. I am not sure if they did this, but it cant hurt to throw that in there, because abviously they DO know about it.. They called me later that day and said the ECM was found to be noisy, and they were going to overnight a new ECM. They installed the new ECM and i picked my car up the next day, with NO MORE NOISE. This was just yesterday, 5-2-2012. Also, from what I have read, a grounding kit does not solve the ECM noise. It really is just a noisy ECM.

All this to say that if you direct them to the ECM, ask them to call the Infiniti Tech Line, you should be able to get it fixed.

Update on my troubles. No one at the dealer here in Las Vegas can hear the noise. I've been to this dealership 3 times and no help. Anyone else in Las Vegas have this issue and get it fixed? There is only 1 dealership here so there is nowhere else I can take it.

I can't believe this is still an issue. I brought it to a dealer once and had the ECU replaced in a week. I believe it's part# JU61C if that helps anyone.

Noise is driving me crazy

I have a 09 g37s coupe which I bought 2 weeks ago. Love the car but this noise is making me go crazy. Took it back and they can't hear it, called Infiniti and they said just take it back. My car has 29000 km (I live in Canada)

Any suggestions on what I can do? The dealer thinks im annoying, I even tried explaining its the ECM and directed them to this site, but they said they will call tech line and let me know.

Any help would be appreciated
