I have gotten ~35MPG while driving from LA to San Diego. I did not use cruise control because it constantly shifts you the throttle position which can be inefficient. To get 35MPG I drove at about 60-65MPH in 6th gear while trying to keep the throttle at a steady position.

I also drafted behind trucks whenever I got the chance.

I got 25 mpg going 75mph from Saint Louis to Chicago (~320mi). If I could always average that I would be happy, but it seems like every time I do city driving my right foot has a mind of it's own.

I am going to drive down to So. Cal next week, and want to get there within 5 hours. I am thinking about driving an average speed of 80-90 miles per hour. I wonder what the mpg will be? Does anyone have any experience driving that long going that fast?

It's rather impossible for most people to use there CC for long distances unless it's late at night.

It's possible if you're not driving in the main city highways...

Last weekend I drove 50km (30miles) each way to some small town, I reset my gauge when I got on the highway and got ~10.5L/100km (~22mpg) cruising at 120km/h (~75mph) about 80% of the time.

I don't see how it can possibly do 35mpg, though!

I am driving up to NY from GA this weekend, which is around 900miles and planning on getting there in 12-14hours with minimal traffic along the way. How much do you think I'll average a tank? I currently get 17.4mpg (95city/5highway) which is around 310 a tank.
