Miles Per Gallon Feedback
My present overall average after 1900 miles is just under 20mpg. That's almost entirely back and forth to work, 10 miles each way, 7 of which are city streets and the rest freeway. I took my first longer drive this weekend, about 200 miles of mostly backroads with few stops. I was averaging a little over 25mpg. For much of the day distance-to-empty + miles driven was over 520 miles. I started with a full tank of Sunoco 93 octane. A huge improvement over my Durango at 12mpg and a lot more fun.
I took another trip to San Antonio form Houston yesterday/today. I reset my MPG/Avg. Speed computer and trip odometer on the fly after I reached highway speed. These are the results:
On the way there I set my ICC at 73. I had to slow twice going through Houston for accidents but other than that maintained a steady speed on the freeway. One brief stop for a restroom break brought down my average speed and slightly decreased the mileage from stopping and getting back up to speed. This photo was captured as I was nearing my exit off the freeway:

I drove around town a bit over yesterday evening and today. I reset the MPG/Avg. speed again once I hit the freeway coming home but this time set the cruise at 70. I got to Houston during late rush hour but the traffic was pretty good (for Houston). Here's how the return trip looks:

Verdict: Steady driving using the cruise will yield the advertised EPA mileage estimate of 17/26 for the 6MT and possibly better. MPG has increased as the mileage increases. Something for newer owners to look forward to.

I just made a trip up to Burbank yesterday.. about 270 miles round trip.. i averaged 26.2MPG on the way up driving about 75-80.. no cruise control..
on the way back there was some traffic that stopped, and i drove about 15 miles on city streets...
Bring my overall milage for the trip down to 24.5 MPG.
6MT driving 75-80 without cruise control.. 800miles on my odometer..
EDIT: this is based on what the car computer is telling me. I have not actually done the math myself and check to verify that the car is in fact accurate yet.

Damm I'm jealous. I have 11k on my car and still get 22mpg at best with 90% freeway driving and using cruise most of the time.
Leaning towards a CAI, mostly because when I put a K&N Typhoon on my 04 G35 coupe my mpg jumped from about 22mpg to 25mpg CONSISTENTLY. Thats when I used to work 4 miles from home, and 90% city driving.
Now I work about 35 miles from home, and I'd say 32-33 of those miles are on freeway with barely any traffic.

Anyone have a cure for enthusiasm?????
I feel like the only G37 Driver who can't break the 20 MPG average for a full tank. I've been trying to shift around 2000/2500 this is making me NUTS! when I'm on the streets and there are just too many freeway on ramps calling my name. My tank average is around 15-18. On the freeway if I reset after I'm on I can get some pretty good runs 26/28/32 but once I get off the freeway MPG goes in the tank. Just put on Injen CAI but I haven't run it for more than a couple of miles on the freeway so I'm really intrested to see how that is. Volendan I think you'll be right about getting more MPG on the freeway because the engine isn't working as hard at speed because of the increased power.

I think I just went too long w/o a sports car when I started having kids, I've got to make up for some lost time. It helps that my Company pays for my car - Payment, Gas, Tires........

I just finished a 650 mile roadtrip. I drove between 80-100 the entire way but was mainly driving 85mph. The three stops i made killed the avg speed though. I didnt use cruise control at all. This was also done in a 6MT.
Last weekend I drove my G37S MT6 from Central NJ, to Montreal, Canada
. On my way back, I filled my gas tank and left at 8PM, there was hardly any traffic and drove at an average of 75 MPH using my Cruise Control about 98% of the 6 1/2 hour trip.
By the time I got home, I averaged 24MPG and had used only 3/4 of my full tank. So if you are going to drive long distances and want to save on fuel, definitely use your Cruise Control!
I hope this helps.
