Competent, knowledgeable infiniti/nissan mechanic in Buffalo NY
I'm reaching here, I live in a small town in way upstate NY. And my 2011 G37 has some issues. "Might be" a lot of things or a few.
it's from the west coast, 132k miles, good maintenance records, one previous owner.
I had an oil leak visible by valve covers. Had a mechanic replace. Still leaking. Replaced valve covers, new, OEM. PCV lines. PCV system is functioning hand I have (per my gauge) 29/32 psi oil pressure @ hot idle. I've owned several VQ, so I know they like to consume oil. But I'm down a full quart @ maybe 1500 or so miles. And every time I drive to and from work, I smell it when I get out, and when I accelerate, I small what could be failing cats. Always 91 octane. My commute is about 52 miles round trip. I have a mechanical background but have decided to leave the hard stuff to the "professionals" and it hasn't been an easy road. I did notice that when I got the car, there was oil everywhere. (So much for that Infiniti dealer in California) but once I ID'd the valve covers, I thought I might be good. No so. The upper oil pan looks like someone per the carfax an Infiniti dealer in Las Vegas, "sealed the upper oil pain years ago. (Looks like they ran a bead outside the block and smoothed it with their finger🤣
I love this car, and I'm married to it.
the other night, I changed the seat, whole, boneyard seat that looked immaculate) it was in my warm garage, and after this, my set buttons don't light, and sonar light is blinking. Also getting a key light on the dash. That goes out if it press a button on the fob new battery in fob. Only have one fob.
I'm sure it has had some exposure to moisture internally beaver the floor got soaked after rain and a wash so I mitigated that, but that was months ago.
im at a loss, and I will pour money into this car, if it's well spent. Because it's cosmetically and structurally perfect. And if anyone knows upstate NY, that's rare.
id do the upper pan, but I don't have the facilities. And it's an X so not only does the cross member need to come out but the front diff too. Oil pressure has rules out galley gaskets. At least to me. I know it's old and it may be tired, but I don't care, I want it right, because I can't replace it, not now.
really could use suggestions of anyone in the Buffalo area that is versed in this. I'd take it to Infiniti, but they wornt work on anything older than 10 years. Next closet will, but not sure if reputation and I'd rather feed a small shorp
