Oil Maint. light on after only 2500m
Hi folks,
I have a 2008 G37S coupe. I got a full oil change almost exactly 2500 miles ago, and last night my oil maintenance light came on. I checked my oil, and it was on the Low portion of the dipstick. I have no leaks, I don't drive too aggressive, I usually drive around 80mph on mostly flat roads, and don't really travel longer than 30-40mile commutes max. As of the last two weeks as well, I have been using cruise control to save on gas.
Is this normal for this car to be burning that much oil?
If not, what could the issue be?

Is this oil light on the center LCD? That is the maintenance reminder which can be programmed and reset. This has nothing to do with the engine having issues.
There is an oil pressure warning light which is not located on the LCD. That's what you would be more concern about.

How do I reset the oil light? But regardless, the oil went from full to low on the dip stick in 2500miles.
The light flashed on screen in the center of the cluster. Also, I looked at my exhaust tips this morning and they were pretty black. I think it is burning oil for sure, just don't know why. Using cruise control isn't harmful to the car in any way, is it?

which oil light are you referring to? oil maintenance or low oil level light? they are two different things. if you are having oil consumption issues you would need to do engine compression and engine leakdown tests. you might have bad or worn rings or cylinder sleeves.
