Pilot Bearing

So I believe my 08 coupe is having the infamous pilot bearing chatter. I just replaced the pilot bearing with a bushing on my F250 as them commonly fail and destroy the input shaft but the bushing is fine. I had a couple of questions though.

First, do people using bushing instead of bearings to eliminate this noise? I haven't found a thread about using a bushing instead yet but have found alot about people having noise within just a few thousand miles and then they get their whole transmission replaced? A pilot bearing is not in the transmission as far as I know unless the nissan MTs are weird so why would the warranty replace a whole trans?

Second, identifying the issue. When depressing the clutch pedal, the load is on the throwout bearing and if there is noise at that point the the TOB is bad. If it is the opposite and you get noise when the clutch isn't depressed it is the pilot bearing. What causes the pilot to make noise when in neutral without depressing the clutch? wouldn't the flywheel and input shaft be spinning at the same speed and therefore not allowing any difference in speed to create a noise? or is it the needles rattling around because there is no rotational speed differential that is making the noise?

From all I have read, it is nothing to be concerned about, but it is louder than my exhaust at idle and makes the car sound broken and cheap. It's not a ducati, I don't want any clutch noises!
