thanks, yes, its out back, pretty close to the left side end link, it has a similar shape to an end link, just a straight cylinder connected with 2 screws, 1 to a metal bracket and the other side to like a lever thing that has some cables above it and its only on the driver side, any ideas? couldnt find it on FSM

It is the height sensor for the AFS (adaptive) headlights.

Unfortunately, I've not the time nor energy to fully assist with your issue, however, section EXL (Exterior Lighting) will have all of the info needed on diagnosing AFS.

That said, that is a height sensor. It's sole function is to measure changes in rear height based on loads (rear seat passengers and/or cargo in trunk) and send that signal to the control unit which adjusts the VERTICAL aim of the projectors to keep the beams level. In other words, if you have too much "junk in the trunk" your headlights will stay level and not point up to the sky.

Being that you are having a HORIZONTAL aiming issue with ONE lamp likely points to an aiming motor issue within the lamp itself not the SAS (steering angle sensor) which signals HORIZONTAL alignment. Is it possible the height sensor could be the issue? Possible not probable. I'd still replace it with a junkyard sensor and go from there.

Good luck.
