ECU possibly wet?
ECU possibly wet?
Hello everyone, as you may know, these cars are notorious for water leaking in thru the sunroof. Well anyway, it rained and water got inside thru the front passenger side. I turned off the car and the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and a bunch of other issues like the car not being able to shut off. Any one know if its possibly the ECU? And where can i get another one programmed?
Given its location and your symptoms, it is more than likely the BCM got wet, not the ECU.
You can try (w/ battery disconnected) disconnecting and removing the BCM to dry it out. Also, make sure all the connectors are clean and dry. Then, plug everything back up and see if the car returns to normal. If not, you'll have to replace the BCM.
There are plenty on eBay and other used parts outlets, just keep in mind you'll need to match your car's specs. Also, you'll need a QUALIFIED/ REPUTABLE locksmith to reprogram everything.

Of course the dealer can fix the issue. But it will cost you a small fortune.
Also keep in mind, the windshield cowls are known to be a source of water leaking into the cabin and, being a Coupe, the door seals are known to leak as well.
Been there/ done that- all three sources.

That is a judgement call only you can make. It depends on your level of skill vs. how wide you want to open your wallet.
If it were me, I would do as I described above. The electrics in these cars is pretty stout. There is a good chance that once everything gets dried out everything will return to normal. It has happened before to other members.
After that, if the car still does not work, then you can determine what course of repair you want to take.
