I am looking at a 2011 G37 IPL Coupe to pick up since I miss my G37 (sold it for a Q60) and to get a 6 speed. The one I am looking at is listed as black and it looks black in the pictures. When I go to a few online price calculators, black isn't an option for the IPL trim that year. The CarFax just says Base/Sport so that is no help. The pictures look like an IPL and it has the badging but someone could have added the body kit and badge.

Is there a way to verify it is an IPL with the VIN? I definitely don't need the IPL trim but it impacts the price since it is less common.

Other than that, all IPLs will have the IPL front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts\sills, 19in wheels, seats. And rest assured, IPLs were made in black & graphite shadow in 2011 for USA. That's pretty much it for visuals. Can also try calling up to your local Infiniti Service\Parts dept & have them lookup the vin attributes\or window sticker to verify trim.

 

The VIN decoder didn't identify it as an IPL but I purchased a replacement window label from Monoreylabels.com that shows it as an IPL. The Malbec black is listed as a $0 cost option which is interesting, maybe that is why it wasn't a color choice online? I will try calling my local Infiniti dealer tomorrow if they are open to see if they have a service history for the car.

 

Funny thing is I just picked up a 2013 black G37 black on black with 20" black rims with a IPL body kit. It's not a IPL from factory but if I put the badges in and around the car no one would no its just G37S.
