Newbie question...I am looking at a 2011 G37 IPL that is for sale and noticed on the right side rear trunk lid the G37 logo has a red "S"? The left side is the standard IPL logo. My question is that I all the IPL's that I have seen do not have the red "S" Was this a previous owner "add" or, was the 2011 G37 IPL offered with some type of "Sport" option package?

 

Does the engine cover have the IPL logo, IPL wheels body kit etc? I agree i have not seen an original IPL that has the G37S emblem.

 

There is no IPL logo on the engine cover, however, it does have the IPL body kit. Any idea if the VIN number has an identifier that would indicate IPL? Otherwise, I am assuming that the vehicle is being misrepresented as an IPL when, in fact, it is G37S with the IPL bumpers and side skirts installed?

 

It probably is just a sport with AERO body kit. Not an IPL.

 

The IPL has never had any "sport" add-on. Check for red stitching, red seats, IPL engine cover, IPL wheels, etc. It's definitely a bad sign that the engine cover is not that of the IPL. It is likely an aero kit with an IPL badge. You are correct, IPL's do not have the red "S" from the factory.

 

Agreed. My guess is an S with an ipl badge and aero kit.

 

Thanks for your experienced input! I guess the old adage..."'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" certainly holds true in this case. By the way, was the Aero kit a factory option for a G37S?

 

When i first joined i remember the forum giving some dude a hard time because he had a fake IPL. Maybe it was his?? lol
I guess it is possible to fake one but why do the badge if it isnt one? usually everyone wants to take the badges off. Probably trying to price it higher because of it.

 

I mean, if the price is right there's nothing wrong with an S that has the aero kit....
