Such a thing as Software Optimization for Engine/Transmission?

My 2013 g37 Journey has zero mods, but I'd like to ask dealership to "update/optimize" the engine/transmission performance...your thoughts???

Only the NAV maps are updated via DVD. Powertrain updates (ECU and TCM) and vehicle configurations (AV, BCM, etc.) are updated/ flashed via CONSULT-3/3+ which is a Nissan proprietary software/ vehicle interface tool.

That said, as SkysG37 suggested, you can call your dealership and provide them with your VIN to see if there are any powertrain updates. However, as the old saying goes: "if it ain't broken..." unless there is a verifiable problem, the dealership will likely not be accommodating, nor free.

The dealership service department can install the most recent applicable software version for your ECU, but that isn't going to "optimize" anything. To accomplish that, you'll need to have your car tuned... which will cost upwards to $1000 in hardware, licensing and service. Plus that's typically something you do after modifications, not bone stock.

As just said, it reads like you're looking to fix something that isn't broken.

WHat are you trying to optimize?

Getting a tune will definitely make your car behave more the way you want it to. All cars today are retarded by regulations before they hit the market. That way, the market is controlled and manageable by the things that want to control and manage the market.
