Steering shake: at my wits end
On my coupe, I currently have 20" staggered Enkeis on it, and I have a set of OEM 18" alloys that the car came with (along with good condition OEM style Bridgestones)
My 20's are smooth as glass.
My OEM 18's have what feels like an imbalance. The Discount Tire I use thinks I am crazy because I have had them re-balance the 18's several times. They swear it balances out OK on their machine. The vibration is fairly significant, so I rarely ever use the 18's. I'll need to fix it someday if I sell the car as I'll probably want to put the 18's back on when I sell it.

Man I really just think discount (at least in my area) has a really hard time with low pro wheels. Granted, I've tried three different discounts(one in tx hometown, 2 in dfw, tx). They do a great job on even monstrous truck tires around here, just don't see as many sportier cars.
But the only reason I replaced the OEM 19s was because I thought they may be bent but no dice (discount actually SAID they were bent, then same tires on the new wheels said "we goofed, turns out the tires are out of round" then even with NEW tires still it's shaky.) That's what led me onto my front end teardown and rebuild
. I just like the car too much to give up on it, and hey, good excuse to put on the racecar parts!Last edited by Red_G; Dec 19, 2020 at 08:42 PM.
