Question Normal Oil Pressure Under Acceleration?

Is it normal to be at 100+psi when accelerating? I just installed an oil pressure gauge and wasn't sure if this was bad or not. I know that it should be at least 14psi at idle and 43psi at 2k rpm. The car is also supercharged, if that makes a difference. I've read that I need to have a gauge that reads up to 150psi, since our cars can go up to ~125psi. However, GlowShift doesn't sell an analog gauge that goes up that high.

Short answer: Yes, it is normal to have more than 100 PSI at higher RPM for the VQ37.

Oil pressure is determined by only 2 things: (assuming good mechanical condition)
• Engine RPM
• Oil Temp

On my G37, with the engine oil temperature around 80°C / 176°F, it will show more than 100 PSI from around 3,000 RPM and up.
The VQ37's oil pump is very large and moves a lot of oil to keep the VVEL system well lubricated.

Also, a 120 PSI gauge is OK, but it might get pegged a few times.

You don't need to worry, everything is as it should be

Good to know. I just talked with Nicole from GlowShift, they might have a 145psi Elite Color 10 Oil Pressure gauge. So, I will probably do an exchange, if they have it in stock.

Are there any other gauges, besides Wideband AFR, Boost and Oil Pressure, that I should plan on getting since I'm FI?

The only other gauge I would add is fuel pressure.
You will need a 100 PSI gauge as the stock fuel system can spike up to 62 PSI and a "Fuel Tap"

I really like the CJ Motorsports fuel tap and it comes with a 1/8" NPT port for the sensor. They are very easy to install:

NOTE:
Since you are boosted, your "effective" or "engine fuel pressure" is the "measured fuel pressure - boost pressure"
For example: if you have have 10 psi boost (which is 10 psi above the current atmospheric pressure, also known as gauge pressure), and 60 PSI fuel pressure (again 60 psi above current atmospheric pressure), the effective or fuel pressure difference between the intake pressure and fuel injector is 60 - 10 = 50 psi.

With that set up, I think you have everything covered

Where did you get those pods for the pillar if you don't mind me asking?

From GlowShift. Here's a link: https://www.glowshiftdirect.com/univ...ay-pillar-pod/

I've read that the gray is a close match to our beige/tan headliner fabric, but I personally like the black. You'll have to do some bondo work. Glowshift has a video on how to make a custom gauge pod:

If anyone wants to know, GlowShift doesn't carry the 145psi oil pressure analog gauges anymore. It was a mistake on the manufacture's end. I guess some people got lucky with those gauges

Thank you for your email. I had our warehouse team pull our Oil Pressure gauges and unfortunately, we have none that have a 145 PSI readout. Previously, our manufacturer actually made a mistake and sent us 145 PSI Oil Pressure Gauges, however, it looks like they have corrected this and now we have only 100 PSI read outs for the oil pressure gauges...

There's a guy on IG that makes custom pillars for the g37. They are super high quality and match the interior perfectly. His IG is @escustoms.ny

Installing three more gauges; fuel pressure, oil temp and coolant temp. Going from a G37 to a G6 with all of these gauges lol. Might be overkill but I can always remove them in the future.
