Oil pressure gauge

I installed my oil pressure gauge, and I feel a little more safer. I can't believe a higher end car doesn't come with one! I tried to keep it as close to the stock gauge cluster as possible, so I went with a auto meter cobalt series.

Shout out to blnewt for hooking me up with glowshift sender adapter!!

Not sure how well gauges hold up when they're maxed-out a lot of the time. For the G a gauge that goes to 150 psi would be preferred since they get over 125 psi when cold. looks good up there, and those AutoMeters are quality units.

I now realize that. It was hard to find a semi matching gauge. The ones I found and like where all mechanical.

IMO the best looking gauges on the market right now are the Tanabe USA Inc. - Revel VLS Gauges

If you are fine with a single function gauge they are great. Since space is limited for our Gs I went with multifunction Innovate gauges.

Also, contact GaleForce on the 370z if you are interested in a custom gauge pod solution:

I went with auto meter because I have had great customer service with them. I have had them in all my projects. One time my fuel pressure gauge broke on my race truck and they fixed it for free! It was way out of warranty. The install was not hard at all. Like I said I have used auto meter for awhile and I new what to expect.

Ttv36 how was the innovative gauge install? Does have a harness the you have make longer, or was it plug and play? What is the other gauge you have installed? Where are you in Texas?

That is a nasty crack. Insurance will usually fix for $50 or less, sometimes free due to safety. Make sure it's good glass. I have had some that pit very easily.

The install was easy because I have an oil pan spacer. I would say the hardest part was running the wires but they were long enough and did not require any extra harness. The other gauge is the Innovate SCG-1 Solenoid Boost Controller (Boost Control, Boost Gauge, and Wideband). I'm in Houston, judging by the sticker on your windshield you are slightly north? But then the ice makes me wonder if even further north..

I completely understand and will be adding one in the spring.

BUT: if your oil pressure sender is attached to the "oil filter sandwich plate" your oil pressure is measured BEFORE the oil filter. The stock oil pressure switch is AFTER the oil filter, and will read a little lower. (due to the oil pressure drop across the filter)

At idle, the pressure before and after the oil filter is about the same. However, as RPM increases and oil flow increases, the pre filter oil pressure can be 10+ PSI higher than the pressure after the filter (or oil gallery pressure)

For our cars, the critical measurement is at idle, so we can determine if the rear cover oil gallery is leaking.

Thanks for the info. I considered getting a tee adapter, but blnewt hooked me up with the adapter. I really am dreading this timing cover gasket leak. I am new to Nissan products, I think you can tell in the pics I have 2 4runners. I am a huge Toyota fan. I guess these car manufactures all have some sort of plan to get you in the end. I remember when Toyota had a series of bad head gaskets. Honda has their v6 problem with the piston rings some how all lining up the gaps and allowing blow by! I just wish they would get it right.

No manufacture has a plan to get you. Sales does. Everyone has problems, Google Takata. The other day Honda had 34k civics with a stop sale due to piston pin snap rings (from their Canadian plant) loose or not there. They also have a class action lawsuit on their 5sp trans from 00 to 05. Pro tip, don't buy a first year car of any make.
