I switched from a 6MT Sport Coupe to IPL 7AT and have no mechanical issues but my exterior lights (excluding fogs) do not turn off. The light column functions properly in the ON position but the only way to keep lights from turning on once the car is started is to engage the parking brake prior to ignition. Dealerships dont know this issue and the INFINITI/Nissan specialists I’ve spoken with still haven’t gotten back to me yet. If this turns out to be a bigger issue then I’ll probably have to find another one again with black interior. But maybe I’ll find a 6MT. I wouldn’t mind if this could be switched to the fog lights ONLY being on all the time but all my lights don’t need to be.
Is your car maybe equipped with DRL's?
Or, are ALL lights (front, rear, AND interior) turning on with ignition?
Headlights tail lights and dash lights are on. Other interior lights function properly. Toggling the exterior lights only turns dashboard lights on and off. Lower Fog lights can be turned off and on as well. It’s also from Canada.
With the light switch OFF, when you start the engine the lights come on, yes? Engine running, when you turn the switch ON, the gauge cluster dims, yes?
Sorry for the silly questions, but going over the FSM and I can not immediately pinpoint your issue. It does appear that your DRL system is operating normally. From the 2014 Owners Manual:

This is pretty much what happens but mine is a 2011. If they have DRLs its fine but no way the taillights should be on too but I may be wrong.

Some manufacturers are indeed moving to having the tails come on with DRL's because people are too stupid to turn their parking lights/headlights on at dusk.

Sad. Thanks for the info. At least I know it’s not a malfunction
