Engine Light

I will appreciate guidance to clear the Engine Light that turned on in my 2013 G37 6MT came on.

I have tightened the gas cap & is still one.

There is no change in performance or gas mileage. The car is in pristine condition & I would like to keep it that way.

My hope is that there is a simple fix I can do.

Thank you in advanced.

take your car to advanced auto, have them read the code (OBD-II reader). It’s free and takes a second.

from the code, it will determine you’re next course of action.

don’t speculate until you get that key piece of information. Good luck.

Hard to determine what your issue is based on information provided:
Are you referring to the "LOOSE FUEL CAP" notice on the gauge cluster center display? If so, after tightening the cap, the notice will clear itself after several drive cycles. It does not go away 1-2-3. If it does not clear after a while you may need to replace the fuel cap.

If you are referring to a different notice, or if the CEL is on, you will need to check for any codes then go from there.

Engine Light-Update: Got lucky

This is to update my post. Got lucky- procrastination paid for once.

After driving through one tank full in highway, the Engine Light went away on its own. I know the bulb is still good b/c I see it come on when I start the car.

My guess is that it was a minor issue that got cleared with a little spirited driving

I do appreciate everyone’s input, which I’ll keep in mind for future.

buy yourself a code reader.. its the best thing I've ever done for myself. if you're interested on which one I got (99 dollars) I can shoot you a pm.. best part is its not vehicle specific.. so for someone like myself with 11 vehicles as long as they have an obd2 port im good to go

You don't even need a $100 code reader. If you only need to pull codes occasionally you can get a $15 code reader off of Amazon or eBay, Heck, Harbor Freight has a decent one for $45.

Very true.. But the one I got reads the codes, tells you the fixes, can clear the codes, can save old reads , has an engine diagnostic built in with live reads from your engine in that moment. All of the recalls for the vehicle etc etc etc.. its a beast. can enter a vin and get all the specs of any vehicle put in there.

it even has a smog check feature that will tell you if your car will pass smog and what you need to do if it doesn't in order for it to pass.

Sounds like you have the "BlueDriver"... I didn't think I was going to like it, but it is quite good.
