Suspension Suggestions - G37xs coupe

My 2011 G37xs coupe is due for front and rear suspension work. My trusted shop is recommending replacing the front struts, springs and mounts now and the rear suspension later. I have 85,000 miles and have noticed issues.

The prices he is getting quoted for the front parts are high but the local Infiniti dealer is closed until Monday. I would appreciate any recommendations for OEM or non-OEM options. I would be open to a nice set of coilovers if I can maintain close to stock height and comfort. I have driven lowered cars before and am enjoying the stock height :P

Thanks!

It all depends how much you’re looking to spend, but if your comfortable and enjoying the OEM suspension, just stick with it. I find it odd the shop would recommend springs, I’d think yours are fine given the mileage. The dampers I am sure are due for a change, KYB Excel-G is basically the only replacement out there for AWD but they are reasonably priced and a good product. If you really need springs OE springs they are easy to source for dirt cheap since most take them off.

If you want to go down the coilover rabbit hole, there is a sticked thread in the suspension forum that has a pretty complete list of what is available for the X along with specs and general prices.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the KYB Excel-G , are these the right part #'s for my coupe?

KYB's website shows the front parts being for the AWD sedan, not coupe but I would expect ConceptZ to have it right

Thanks!

I bought the KYB Excel struts for both my G37 and my 93 300zx.

I’ve bought KYB adjustables, Tokico adjustables as well as Koni adjustables over the years as well.

I have to say I’m totally impressed with the KYB excels especially for the price. You will not be disappointed with them. They do feel about 10-15% stiffer than oem.

if you are looking for a good oem upgrade these are good ones.

You can get it from rockauto for a lot cheaper. The awd shocks and struts will be the same for the sedan and coupe.

If you end up going with OEM-style replacement parts, tell your shop that you want to keep your original springs.
Springs never "wear out". They can "sag" or break, but that is very rare on most all vehicles.
I would have them replace the spring isolators, though, if they are worn through.
