While I understand your frustration, looking at your other posts, it looks like its been going into limp mode for 4-5 months now almost daily and you have just been clearing the codes ....the car goes into limp mode to protect itself...clearing it and driving for months is not likely to end well....the P0420 could be an O2 sensor too but you should not just keep clearing the codes or at least be recording the codes/a freezeframe of the data as it will only make it more difficult to diagnose the real problem as other codes are thrown...
I don't know about the shop that said cats shouldn't be failing...Cats can fail any time from physical damage too and especially since you have the exhaust modified...you can get used cats on here for about $150 and a pair of O2 sensors is about $200 for new aftermarket sensors...but thats probably only gonna help if you're throwing parts at it...the daily limp modes sounds like a much more serious problem, maybe the oil gallery gasket...
Either way, its unlikely the car needs 6k in work in a worse case scenario even from the dealer...an engine swap can be done for half that or less....the $6k probably includes bunch of other maintenance items, you can always post up the estimate here and ask about prioritizing/necessity of particular items like lots of there people do...if its something really bad, you can probably have it fixed for less than 3k, but you haven't posted much info, anyways good luck
