Subjective opinion, and I respectively disagree, but I see the point you are trying to make. Let's just agree to disagree.

It is still an automatic trans regardless of the tech.

I read your previous post and from your statement I can agree. For driving enjoyment a standard is the way to go. Mica put it best when he said you just aren't piloting the car when it's an automatic. I'll even be the first to admit I get bored driving mine from time to time. I'm currently looking for a cheap Manual car with decent performance I can throw around the track. From a high competitive stand point, automatics have really closed the gap. No longer a hands down advantage for manual owners anymore on most platforms was the point I was trying to make.

1 other big advantage with the G is you get AWD with the automatic, can't get that with the manual. If you drive in the north east and in rain.. AWD is far better. I had a rear drive only G... night and day dif.

Not technically correct.... Without question the autos in current G's are light years ahead of a time when manual transmissions were superior in almost every category (fuel economy, acceleration, etc) to their equivalent automatic offering. Technology has changed that to a pretty significant degree. The only advantage that a manual can still, sort of subjectively, hold on to is in the user interface and/or experience. For those that like to shift, nothing compares. For the trans in the G, they are still an automatic (torque converter, fluid use, etc) though. A twin clutch transmission (EVO MR, Ferrari, Porsche's pdk, etc) is mechanically a manual transmission. It is just shifted via computer (in milliseconds) versus a manually operated linkage on the console.
We're splitting hairs. Just drive whatever you like. Sitting in traffic, there are definitely times I could be perfectly happy with an auto...

i dont think it matters whether its AT or MT when sport modifying your vehicle, especially that has such a pedigree, like the G37, MT is for those guys who like to smash through their gears as their speedometer starts to increase exponentially, they live for initiating that torque burst commonly around 2nd or 3rd gear and then riding it all the way up to the 4th and 5th gears.

Can't lie, some days I miss driving a manual. That's all I owned from my first car to today in 15yrs of driving. I live in Atlanta now and got the 2014 7AT Q60s so sitting in traffic daily the auto is great and I still get a lot of satisfaction from shifting with the paddles in manual mode. Riding through downtown with an axleback and r2c intakes ppl turn like they expect to see an exotic when I'm downshifting it coming to a stop. It is all preference I didn't feel any type of "embarrassment" going from MT to AT and modding.

Do some track days with proper instruction to improve your driving.

If it wasn't for traffic, I would have probably stayed with a Stick. There are times, when having to hit the brakes so much drives me crazy. There really a replacement for a manual.

Agreed. Where I drive... An Auto is preferred in the NY City area. Some times a manual is fun...

So this is just my 2 cents on this.I drive a 18 speed big rig all day for 12-14 hrs in the city.At the end of my shift I'm glad to get into my g,sit back put it in D for dummy and off I go.A nice relaxing drive home.Plus I can now enjoy a beverage without having to put it down each time I have to shift.
I have had 5 speed,s before and at times it is fun to go through the gears, you are a wee bit more of a driver IMO with a stick, but I think just as long as you can drive a stick and drive it well,to hell with the haters.I don't miss a 5 speed when it's bumper to bumper traffic, clutch, clutch, clutch. If my daily was a track car then I realy do think stick is preferred. But once again that's just my opinion. As the old saying goes(opinions are like a## holes,Everyone's got one).
Simply put, enjoy your G and congrats on your toy.If your happy it's an automatic win.

And as for you feeling ashamed,Hold your head up high and wave as your other hand holds the wheel while putting your foot into it.Thats one thing the manuals can't do..
