I still don't believe it.....

I'd like to see pics of an aftermarket Y pipe bolted to stock mid (3" to 2 3/8"). I really have been searching like Kris said. Or if someone knows/has a link to something, that would be appreciated. All I have found is axle backs, or catbacks, or cats being replaced. nothing of this sort.

You're either trolling or very high bro.. It bolts up, 100's of G37 and 370z guys have done it, I'm not wasting my time with this anymore.

Neither, you just should have been more clear and stated that the flange and bolts on each pipe will match up but leaving a wall inside. Which blnewt explained to me thus making it clear lol. But thanks for the other info. I really do appreciate it and I am sure the OP does as well. Trying to plan on getting rid of the little rasp (lower band RPMs) I get from my current setup soon. My G has the Tanabe Mid pipe and mufflers. Not sure what brand HFC and Y pipe I have. All this was already on the car when I bought it a month ago.

And wanted to apologize if I made you think so. I am a car enthusiast and I want to know "how" it works, not just "will" it work.

Thank you all for the information in this discussion. Based on this input, I will likely hold off on the build and start looking into a full catback system.

Very much appreciated the help.

FWIW there's only one Ypipe that I'm aware of that will bolt up to the smaller mid pipes without having that abrupt transition, and that's the Exhaust Depot Y-pipe with the 2.5" collector, and it's no longer in production

That, or just avoid a new Y and stick w/ oem for that section.
