Whats wrong with my coupe
Whats wrong with my coupe
Hey guys, just was wondering this has ever happened to anyone. Well in reality I didn't do it, the body shop did. Here's my situation....
I took my vehicle in to a caliber collision for front bumper BODY work because someone has backed up into my car. The same day I dropped it off someone called me from the body shop a few hours later to ask me If I noticed my shifter wasn't working properly (automatic) I said no, everything was fine when I dropped it off. So the next day I call to find out what was going on with shifter. They said that the button to shift into drive was loose and that you didn't have to hold button down to shift. I thought hmmm well maybe it was like that and really didn't think of it as a big deal...... So a week goes by and today I went to pick up my ride. They did a great job on the front bumper body work everything was fine... but then when I got in my car I really noticed the shifter was really off. It was NOT like that before. (But wait there's more) the guy walked me through the car to tell me about the shifter and now a loud steady beeping noise that comes from the car when the key is not inside the vehicle. Still I didn't think much of it I thought it was something that was temporary. So I get home, and the shifter just feels really weird. It still works it goes into drive, reverse, neutral (but neutral feels off, but still works) but when I turn the car off and get out the car begins the LOUD annoying beep. and on the center info area it indicates that the car needs to be placed in park when it already is in park. So clearly someone did something at the body shop and they are trying to wash their hands of this. Any suggestions? what could be the issue with the car? Any info is greatly appreciated. So to recap, shifter feels off, and car beeps loud once the key exits the vehicle. Car indicates vehicle need to be in park when vehicle is already in park. thanks !!

Here's a post that might help, sounds like some linkage got damaged Wont Sense Car is in park!! Help - G35Driver
I would really question Caliber Collision. I'm sure we didn't go to the same one, but they pulled a similar stunt with my G. I really only drive my G when it's warm out so I always have the windows down. I took my G to a Caliber and when I got it back the passenger side window would roll down, but they wouldn't claim responsibility for it when I know it was their fault. If it's their fault demand that they fix it.
Thanks for your feedback. Yea I called body shop today and they said that I could take it back and that they would have a mechanic look at it. But still he said that he could not guarantee that they would cover the damage. He said the mechanic would have to verify that it was something they did. If not they would stick me with the bill. So yea, I'm not going to get anywhere with the body shop. As if they are going to admit fault. So looks like I'm going to try to file a claim through my warranty that I have. Thanks for your feedback. I hope you got your window situation fixed.
