Tint Opinion, retinting soon

Hello everyone,

I have had my G tinted for 4 years now. There are some scratches on the front windows. So I thought it be time to re-tint soon. The current tint i have right now is 30% all around except for windshield with 5% eyebrow. I was thinking to go 20% all around kepeing my f. windshield the same or is 20% too dark?

Note: I have the tan/beige interior. 20% won't be an issue in the area I live in, Just purely wondering for how well it will look with my G. I attached a picture of my current tint, picture was taken in daylight but in the shade.

Let me know your opinions everyone!

Thanks

On my Last car, I had 20 all around and 50 on the windshield and it was perfect, it sucked at night sometimes but you get used to it pretty quick as long as your dash lights aren't on full bright. You'll love it.

20% is pretty dark, particularly for night driving. Beyond the aspect of it being darker than is legal, only you know how well you'll be able to deal with night driving.

He already said there isn't a worry about legalities in his area.

^ He will if he gets pulled over. I say 20% is too dark. Everyone with 20% says it's pretty dark at night. What that means is your vision is impaired. Many will try and spin that as being OK but bottom line is, without dispute is that 20% will hamper your night time vision. So I ask you .... is it worth the risk of potentially hitting someone (including a child) or something just because you wanted your car to look "cool"? Stay with your 30%.

This is absolutely true.

I had 20% on my previous cars also. I did get pulled over by a state trooper. I was told to remove it or pay $250 per window. Of course, I'd rather take everything off than pay $750. It may not matter where the OP is from, but other people may misread it and think that they may get away with it.

I have corrected vision to 20/20 or a little better, so I have no vision problem. There's no doubt that
it's much harder to see out of 20% tint, regardless of how well your eyes will get "adjusted" to it. Even before I get pulled over for my 20% tint, I'd already contemplated about taking it off because it was hard to see. And that's when the weather was clear. When it's rainy, foggy, or snowy, it's even worse.

I do have 20% on my back windshield now, but not my side windows, which have 35% tint. The only reason why I went with 20% on the back there is for rear passengers' comfort. I would never go darker than 35% on the side windows again. The risks outweigh the benefits and cool factor.

Did you stop reading the OP before the end where it says "Let me know your opinions everyone!"? I've seen nothing but well stated opinions. I don't see what you're talking about.

Escalation and/or schooling not found. Just people sharing their insights.

For the record I currently have 20% and I'd suggest 30%.

I guess I can see your confusion because you must have skipped over the actual question. He asked, "Just purely wondering for how well it will look with my G".... Wasn't asking what our opinions were on safety or our professional legal advice. It's common knowledge, especially for someone who said he already had tinted windows, to know the pros/cons of doing so. If other threads were like this one, it would be like going into every build thread and with every aftermarket part that's meant for off-road use only to scold them and make sure they never drive it on the road anymore. C'mon now.

No scolding, don't over-react. Mearly offering our opinion since the OP asked "or is 20% too dark?" ... no hint of only respond on looks vs. safety/functionality the first time it was asked. Perhaps you are feeling a little sensitive about your unsafe tint. It's the OP's car, he can take our opinions to heart or not, his choice. But if he hits me, I'm suing the snot out of him. :-)

I've always thought 20% was too dark. Really dark windows always make me think of a ****ty civic complete with custom vape scoop.

30-35% is the sweet spot for nicer cars. You improve the looks without sacrificing too much visibility and without making the car looks tacky imho.

Whatever you do get Ceramic tint. It's a lot more expensive but well worth it and usually comes with a good warranty. I've got 30% up front and 15% on the back doors and rear window and I can see out of it just fine at night, even through the 15%.

Meh no regrets here, as I'm sure you can relate in FL, 90+ temps for months in a row make the tint completely worth it, if not required..

I have 20% and its nearly impossible to see out of the window coming in the neighborhood at night with no street light; so i drive slowly and put the window down if possible(no rain) other than that i have zero regrets in this Texas sun/heat. I will be getting the car re tinted @ 20% again very soon due to premature pealing however
