Hearing a loud "PLINK" when shifting in and out of reverse.
2008 G37s Coupe, 5-AT, 61k miles, 3k mi OCIs, all stock.
Hey all. Let me start by saying I'm pretty decent under a car and I've got some wrench time. That said, there's a sound coming from the rear of the vehicle that I've never heard before.
When I shift into neutral and hit the gas, I hear a "plink" coming from what I believe may be the rear differential or possibly a u-joint. When I shift out of reverse and into drive, I hear the same sound. It's not the axle click that troubles some older G35s, but it's more of a dull "plink" sound.
The car has been religiously maintained, only 61k miles, and has never been in the shop or on jack stands in my garage. I'm experienced with low-tech American V8s, so you can imagine why I'm so unsure about breaking down the rear end to look for issues. I was hoping I could get some insight as to what the problem may be before I start ripping things apart.
Any advice, insight, previous experiences, or dirty jokes are always welcome. Thanks.

Not sure if there's a similar noise associated w/ this but the rubber driveshaft mount may be ripping so it may cause a noise when load is applied or released. Scroll down this thread a bit for a better view
