In case anyone is shipping their car across the US and want some recent experience and cost.

I used "Montway Auto Transport" and they in term contracted SAP Inc to transport my Q50s from LA to Chicago. The cost was $829 and the vehicle arrived 2 days earlier than expected.

Good service overall.

 

Very good to know. I'm moving back to Seattle from Missouri and haven't decided if I'm going to ship or trailer the car. I guess it depends on the price of a flat trailer, I'm definitely not dragging it.

 

i used OK Auto Carrier to transport my G from Baltimore to Vancouver BC back in 2010. everything went A-OK.

cost was somewhere ~$1250 CAD, maybe a bit less. my cost would have been much more than that including flights/hotel/food//fuel/etc, plus the added mileage and wear n tear in November was a no-go. and taking a week off from work just to transport a car was not rational given my work at the time.

i also shipped my wife's previous CR-V to her sister in Alberta. no issues there either. i would certainly consider an auto carrier again if needed. as long as a reputable carrier is used, these guys know what they're doing.
