IPL is Totaled
My uncle is a BMW master tech and my dads a high performance mechanic so maintenance shouldn't be a problem. My uncle said earlier 335i had the problems 2007-2009. By 2012 (335is) the N54 was pretty solid and all the major issues where taken care of

It's just a car that has an amazing drive, but if you prefer being smart with your money, then I don't recommend it. I also babied the **** out of that thing. So if you're going to be tracking it, I would either become a BMW mechanic, or put a lot of money aside for maintenance.
If your a serious tuner its a no brainer. supra or godzilla. No offense but a 335 are junk. Stay true to the Japanese quality and craftsmanship.
There's also the NSX but finding one under $30k is tough

I like your style regarding Japanese quality. Here in Vegas, BMWs are everywhere...especially today (with this ridiculous heat) there were a multitude of 5 and 7 series broken down on the freeway. So I mentioned it to my friend who's a Mechanic, and he said theyre very vulnerable to high temps....as he laughed and said theyre junk as well.
I had a 2007. If you are looking for a 335i, go for N55 (2011+). However, the issue with the N55 motor is that you cant modify it as much as the N54 (2007-2010). If I could keep my 335i while it was under warranty, or if my uncle was a BMW tech and could do the maintenance, I would've never sold it. As much as I love my new G, when it comes to driving, it's extremely boring compared to an E90/E92 335i. However, the G is a smart buy, for what you pay, you get everything, and even more than the 335i. I am curious to know what kind of car you went with, please keep me updated. That IPL was absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks, I loved that car and it was defiantly show car quality. I decided to go with a 2014 EVO X MR Touring fully loaded with leather recaros with 6k miles got an amazing deal on it. Kinda miss the IPL sleek styling that looks fast standing still, but one i get into the EVO and hit a corner that tends to fade. Both cars are honestly amazing just meant for different purposes. Plus I live in NE so AWD is a huge advantage

I drove both the M3 kinda felt numb on the road and the 335i was nice but I honestly preferred the EVO. It handled way better on the roads and much more ability to modify plus I wanted an N54 and finding one in molested was tough. Same as the IPL after awhile you couldn't do much unless you go FI and it kinda felt numb to drive plus I wanted turbo. The EVO just feels raw under your fingers. I agree with the coupe thing I'm 25 so trust me I know the EVO only turns heads to people who know what it is or hear me coming with the Tomie TI w/ ETS TP, but it's no normal sedan
